to get so wound up by a Matalan billboard ad?

There is, near us, an enormous billboard ad depicting a gorgeous bimbette that advertises a new range for Matalan called "Be Beau".

For some reason this drives me insane as surely - for a WOMAN - it would be "Be Belle"?

I can see that they are trying for the Trendy-Look-At-Us-We-Know-About-Social-Networking-Sites zeitgeist but this is sloppy, inaccurate and IRRITATING.

Or is there something wrong with my hormone balance that I am so incensed by it. DH is finding it so amusing he deliberately route plans to go past it.

YABVU.

How dare you scorn Matalan for their praisworthy attempt to expand into the transexual, transvestite and hermaphrodite market.

GrendelsMum · 17/09/2009 11:13

Either that, or its a reference to The Transformation of Philip Jetton

DuchessOfAvon · 17/09/2009 14:28

GrendelsMum - you are good. Why didn't I spot that it was the genius work of a Heyerite ad(wo)man?

Is it supposed to be a pun on Bebo, the social networking site?

bran · 17/09/2009 14:40

Sorry, you said that in the op. I probably skipped a paragraph when DD toppled over trying to put her leggings on.

GrendelsMum · 17/09/2009 21:30

See - now you can drive past the billboard feeling all serene!

Do you know there's a Heyer conference on next month? Perhaps the Matalan advert should be a topic for panel discussion?

DuchessOfAvon · 17/09/2009 22:02

A Heyer conference? Where? When? Can I go?

Tiens!

That is fucking irritating.

GrendelsMum · 19/09/2009 10:28

You may go, Duchess, so long as you faithfully promise not to kill anybody with your sword.

Your son, on the other hand, is definitely not invited.
