..."Don't forget, you were mine before you were anyone else's" - in front of me!
DH thinks this is a reasonable thing to say - I think she is bonkers and needs to let go and get a life.

Was chatting with her recently about DS (18m) and she said "I bet you'll be saying that to him now" I said hmm I might think it but would not say it out loud, to which she replied "Huh well I'll say it to him (my DS) as well then" - wtf? She already calls him "my baby" which drives me insane too.

Anyway, surely I am right - this is OTT isn't it. Please help me open DH's eyes to her looniness

At DP's twin brother's wedding two years ago, DP's mother tearfully moaned at me about how she'd lost one of her sons and how she'd never get him back.

At the time, I thought it was inappropriate given I am the gf of her other son! Nevertheless, I tried to play the whole, "You've not lost a son; you've gained a daughter" card, but she was having none of it.

So, DP and I are getting married in eight weeks time, and I am genuinely concerned she will end up having another rant at our wedding about how both of her boys have been shamelessly taken away from her.

'You're my wife now!' That's a quality line!!

Cor, my MIL says things to me like 'He's your problem now, I'm not having him back' and 'You're worse than me, you volunteered to have him' when DH is being an arse (said with a big smile on her face).

I don't get the problem loads of MNers have with grandmas calling their DGCs 'my baby.' Both my mum and MIL do this, and I know they don't mean to take my place, just that they love the little one in question too (like my mum calling after DD3 had been poorly and asking 'How's my baby today then?' Actually, thinking about it, mum often says 'our baby' - is that more acceptable ?)

Having 4 boys, Dh ahs already been primed to lock me up if I satrt to get like this LOL

Though in the case of the older two, I'll be advertising for wves shortly (and they're only 9 and 8 )
