Suspect I'm not the first to ask but AIBU to long for bedtime even though DS has been at Nursery and I've missed him all day

I'm sure I'm not.

I love my 3 yo DS more than my life, I really do, I find his scraping plastic toys on glass shelves 'because listen to the lovely squeaking noise Mummy' endearing and clever, let me dare to say the sign of a prodigy.

I'm constantly delighted by his attmepts to pick up our 3 month old kitten by the tail and 'put her in the Numberjacks lift Mummy'

I live for the constant retellings of the same Waybaloo story to him again and again while he asks me intelligent questions on the structure and meaning of the narrative 'why is Lau Lau Mummy?' 'Why does Nok tok like the leaf Mummy'

But really more than anything in the world today, I want it to be 7.30 and for him to be safely, securely and peacefully tucked up in bed.

Thank you for listening

xMad

You are a heartless wench.

I too am counting the minutes.

nighbynight · 15/09/2009 18:06

lol
I work f/t, see my children for about 5 minutes a day and have also found myself on occasion counting the seconds and feeling guilty. Thank god Im not the only one.

Madascheese · 15/09/2009 18:06

thank you feels validated

Now I plan to ignore any negative responses while I eat the rest of this gigantic swiss roll hiding in the kitchen and let CBeebies handle the parenting for a while.

Have wanted to be a sterotype all my life and now finally in as a single parent I'm close to acheiving my goal

Yep - same here and always feel guilty about it. Look forward to seeing DD after a long work day, but then count down to bedtime (also 7pm) and wonder if I am evil.

YANB at all U. That moment when all is quiet and you're back downstairs makes me sigh with relief every time. And I too work f-t.
