to expect a 9-12 months sized jumper to fit over the head of my tiny 8 months old daughter?

My child certainly has not a freakishly big head, she's still on the 2nd centile.

I looked everywhere for hidden poppers or out, but no, Boots must have designed it for children with freakishly tiny heads.

I really don't fancy the 5 mile trip to return it. :-(

maybe you can give it away to a younger baby to avoid the journey, or keep it for next baby if you have another dd?

I always found Boots to come up very small with baby clothes sizing

Ah younger baby would drown in the sleeves and body, it's only the neck-hole which is tiny.

I'll have to give it back.

I have the same problem with DS1 tops, he has several 4yr Tshirts that are a real struggle to pull on / off and he's only 2.4 and certainly doesn't have a large head -- annoying as I want him to learn dressing/undressing himself but there's no way he can with these. It's hard enough for me and eventually I end retiring otherwise perfectly good clothes as it's too much of a struggle. I've seen this with several brands too.

Anyone else encounter this too? Adult clothes don't have this problem so why inflict it on children?

No it's a problem here too with my average 14 month old dd - gap also quite bad and have even caused tears with their tiny necklines.

I don't understand children's clothes sizes. DD is an average 19 month old, bang on the 50th centile. She is still wearing a pair of 6-9 month trousers, a lot of 9-12 month and all the 12-18 month pairs are trailing along the floor. The 18-24 which she 'should' be in are laughably big. It's mad.

I think they make clothes with the biggest possible child of that age in mind.

DD is on the 75th centile and always has been so bigger than average and yet till has to wear clothes a size or 2 smaller.

Yep, if your 2nd centile 8 month-old had an unusually large head for a one year-old, I'm sure you'd have noticed.

Snip the neck to make it wider, I'm sure your dd won't mind
