you could turn it up the wrong way, so the removable ball is underneath

I always leave mine in and th only time it has come undone was when I has a plastic ball on that the thread went on. All the ones I had had the screw fitting on both ends. If you do want to put the removable one on underneath the easiest way is to put it in from the top, pull the bar out from underneath your tongue and clench the bar between your teeth. Then screw the ball on. I alway do mine up this way
