to be annoyed about a tin of paint

We're doing up our kitchen. We have spent £40 already on floor paint.

DH prepped the floor on Wednesday but things seem to have ground to a halt now (annoying as the washing machine has been un-plumbed for this, DS is potty-training, I am now washing his clothes in the bath).

DH announced to me last night he's bought another tin of paint in a colour I've always said I don't want for the floor (white!) but because it's with his "own" money he doesn't think it's a problem. Said he's bought it to do a sample just for his peace of mind.

AIBU to think this is him trying to get his own way by stealth? I might be

Either take it back and get a refund or use it as an undercoat for the nicer colour.

Do NOT let him paint the floor white.

Or if he does, tell him it is nw HIS job to keep it clean.

Tosser. I am quite cross on your behalf.
