to think its RIDICULOUS that Boots, M&S ect all put their children / baby sections on the upper lowr floors rather than the ground ones

so you always have to frig about with lifts / stairs / esculators with the kids?! Surely it makes more sense that the people without buggies have to travel further?

Even with the one floor Boots stores they shove the baby section right at the very back so you have to drag 3 fed up kids through miles of orange women spraying Jordans latest piss perfume in your eyes, acres of bright white shelving full of brighly coloured shampoo bottles that are just begging to be knocked down skittle style by a 4 year old and make up sections that just look like sweet shops!

Why not just put thm at the front / ground floor so I can be in and out in 3 minutes and not have to be painfully reminded that I should be wearing perfume/ makeup / shaving.

Harrumph.

YANBU - Our local Clarks has the kids' shoes upstairs with no lift.

PMSL Lovelytinofspam "Puts me in mind of Paxo and his boaktastic gusset anxiety "

I have never been able to fathom why Paxman would want the world to know that he's now got Old Man's Dangly Bollocks.

And is dense to boot. It's like me moaning that M and S bras used to give me loads of support in the old days but now they are crap, and the fact that I am 20 years older, have had three kids and breastfed for a gazillion years is totally immaterial.

I'm about to start noticing this kind of thing I guess but, for now, why do Holland & Barratt put their raspberry leaf tea (labelled as "recommended for women in late pregnancy") on the bottom shelf? I can get down there, but it's hit and miss whether or not I can get back up

LovelyTinOfSpam · 26/08/2009 22:19

Balloon, poor old paxo had his personal letter to the top man at M&S leaked.

I'm guessing that's not all that was leaking

funtimewincies · 27/08/2009 19:39

I had the opposite problem in Julian Graves Minshu, it was far too high up to reach without the danger of early waters popping !

secretgardin · 27/08/2009 19:56

i wrote to boots as we had the same problem and suggested that they stock at least the nappies and baby food downstairs. the lift in our local boots is tiny and barely fits an adult and one buggy, let alone other dc tagging along. customer service told me that i could always ask a member of staff to collect something for me what happened to a bit of browsing shop elsewhere now as too much hassle

hifi · 28/08/2009 15:25

its to do with pounds per sq feet and who will trek the furthest.shop real estate is more expensive ground level towards the front, you would normally have high turnover/most profitable items there.

most retailers will normally lead with menswear on the groundfloor as they dont like climbing stairs and womens wear further back or a floor up.recently though many have flipped this as womenswear takes more money.

women will always tend to go to the right{if i remember correctly} when entering stores so if a floor is split womenswear will be on the right.

lilysam · 28/08/2009 17:35

It's a pain in the ass! I wouldn;t care but you get glared at trying to get your pram round the silly fixtures to get to the too small lifts.

And at xmas they use the lifts for stock etc so you have to wait forever for it to be free, while it's stuck on their stock floor!

Takes you forever to buy anything, then you get glared at cos the kids are fed up and screaming!

Bulk buy, online

(This annoys me as much as the leggy blonds in posh cars that nick the P&C spaces at our local shops cos they've got tons of cash and can please themselves)
