It is my pet hate, they move down before the bus stops..stumble a bit..grab the nearest thing. Not one of the many poles or hand rails but my pram handle
Do they think it won't tip up if they fall?
Or am I being too protective of my precious newborn?
It is happening so often now that I snap at anyone who touches it.grr

You're mad, madder than Mad Jack McMad winner of this years maddest man competition.
If your pushchair handle is the nearest thing to grab then it is obviously, to a small degree obstructing the gangway.

EyeballsintheSky · 20/08/2009 21:29

YABU. Don't you realise it's a MN sin to take a pram on a bus . Mothers with prams should walk the five mile return journey with the tired hungry child and all their shopping, not forgetting the sackcloth and ashes and tugging your forelock at those superior beings who don't have children.

Wonderstuff · 20/08/2009 21:29

quint

I feel you should be congratulate for not having anything better to worry about.

GypsyMoth · 20/08/2009 21:30

oh dear,where has op gone??

QuintessentialShadows · 20/08/2009 21:30

I think I shall go and patent my magnetic pram bolt idea!

hatesponge · 20/08/2009 21:34

YABVU - and rather pathetically precious.

I suggest you travel by car rather than the bus in future, then you wont have to worry about your pram coming into contact with common people and their germs

mumface · 20/08/2009 21:34

I never mentioned germs! Have already said will fold if wheelchair needs to get on Agree they have priority.

OP posts:
MovingOutOfBlighty · 20/08/2009 21:40

Glad to hear you are being green by using public transport.

I think you are being a teeny tiny bit precious. And how on earth are you able to take your whole buggy on board without folding it up. If I could do that on our local service I would think my cup would runneth over.

seeker · 20/08/2009 21:47

SOO glad I never had a "very expensive pram" to worry about!

mumface · 20/08/2009 21:51

Making assumptions about cost of pram?!
Not worried about pram. Bothered about pram tipping up.

OP posts:
TheBolter · 20/08/2009 21:52

Blimey.

People touching prams
People not baby proofing houses
Cleaners making themselves cups of tea
People not shifting their big arses off sofas
Foreign au pairs being made to come along on outings

Are we turning into a nation of petty princesses or is everyone just pissed off with the British summer?

GypsyMoth · 20/08/2009 21:53

well take the baby out and fold it.......jeeeezz!!!

Thunderduck · 20/08/2009 21:54

It was Notanumber, not the Op who mentioned both expensive prams and germs.

Amazingbouncingferret you have quoted one of my absolute FAV Blackadder quotes of all time
Mumface- I do understand your fear about the pram tipping, I do.
However if I was about to fall on my face in a very painful bus jolty way, tbh I would grab a womans breast if it meant I stayed upright. I would obviously apoligize afterwards

OrmIrian · 20/08/2009 22:07

DOn't be silly I don't read! You can't fold a baby - it's too fat and squishy.

morningpaper · 20/08/2009 22:10

lol @ woman's breats

Yes you could try and think "Thank goodness that was my pram, instead of my breast!" and feel nice and positive

giantkatestacks · 20/08/2009 22:12

Am perfectly aware this is a pishtake but can someone explain to me how old people are grabbing this persons pram?

I mean I am really very dim indeed but you get on the bus and park your buggy in the space with the handles by the window and baby facing the door - that way you can fit 2 Macs in and its just what you do innit?

I think the OP is lucky that 'the nearest thing' isnt her boobs - old men are always lunging at mine

giantkatestacks · 20/08/2009 22:14

mp - damn my slow and rather drunken typing...

seeker · 20/08/2009 22:17

You can fold them if you iron them nicely first. Then you can put them neatly in your designer changing bag so they don't spoil the lines of your very expensive pram. The ironing gets rid of the germs too.

serendippity · 20/08/2009 22:24

Morningpaper, Apologies but I have been on MN on and off for a billion years and I think that is the first time I made someone type lol..so am now feeling stupidly pleased, thankyou

notanumber · 20/08/2009 22:25

It was me who mentioned both expensive pram and germs! mumface didn't mention either, so a bit unfair to be flaming er for it.

Oh, and I wasn't being entirely serious either.

Firawla · 21/08/2009 11:41

it does annoy me if people lean on it for no reason, not falling over or anything but just stand on the bus and for some reason want to keep their hand on my pushchair while they stand up. i think that is rude. if it was an older person getting up and about to fall over then i dont mind, but i dont think you are being sooo U as what everyone is saying

trellism · 21/08/2009 11:52

I'd rather walk than get the bus. Any time, any distance, any weather, pram or no pram.

hth.

Morloth · 21/08/2009 11:59

I have gotten multiple buses everday for the last 4 years and I have never seen anyone do this, nor done it, nor have it happen to me when I had a pushchair.

So what are you doing that is causing it to happen all the time?
