to hate it when parents 'hold' little girls when they need an emergency wee?

I know emergencies happen, but it just looks awful.

Saw this happen today in a shop doorway

In a doorway - bleurgh

As for the rest of it? Well you're clearly quite barking ...

cheekster · 14/08/2009 22:33

In a field etc fine.

But somewhere more public is a different story altogether.

small childrens genitals are only interesting if you are a pervert. for the rest of us, they are just part of their anatomy, and saving them from discomfort and distress by helping them pee safely is what parents do.

Get over it.

BettyTurnip · 14/08/2009 22:37

Cheekster - is it preferable for our daughters to piss themsleves then?

Yabu. I used to do this when my girls were little not in a shop doorway though, I did sometimes take a ptty but found that was much more dificult to deal with as you then had a potty full of wee to dispose of.

Klaw · 14/08/2009 22:39

Not in a shop doorway, NO!

If I am caught short and dd needs to go I would go to nearest drain and hold her over that, so that there's not pee in anyone's way. But I've not needed to do that since we were toilet training. Now we can manage to get to nearest public/supermarket toilets.

But if a child needs to go, a child needs to go.

madameDefarge · 14/08/2009 22:39

Do you have children?

So cheekster - what age do you suggest us mothers of girls carry round potties?

6?
7?
8?

Pray do tell ...

madameDefarge · 14/08/2009 22:45

Its Friday night and they are tripping the bridge light fantastic. Such a shame, it has been so blissfully so troll free for a while.

Classic troll behaviour, don't engage with answers, just keep posting....

Maybe there's more dignity in standing to pee?

We all need to give our daughters the life-skill of the 3 fingered stand up as discussed earlier ...?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 14/08/2009 22:47

I don't plan on carrying a potty round everywhere for my 8yo DD. However if she needs an eergency wee I still hold her as otherwise she will wee down her leg. Though last week she managed to wee all over my hand instead. Nice.

madameDefarge · 14/08/2009 22:48

ah well, at least my ds could aim right in cheekster's peeking eye. Damn, I knew there was an advantage to being a boy.

ExtraFancy · 14/08/2009 22:48

I did an emergency wee in a vicarage garden once.

However, I was 23 at the time
