to think that rich people are disgraceful? PART 1

mynob · 11/08/2009 18:13

I'm thinking about actual people I know....

They live in a big house with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. I think their dcs should share so that homeless people can be housed in the extra space.

They have 2 cars - this is obviously bad for the environment and what's wrong with public transport (in my country everyone uses PT).

My friend buys Dolce and Gabbana handbags and Hello magazine. I think she could do perfectly well with a Tesco Bag for Life and Take a Break - the brazen hussy!

Her fridge is filled with Waitrose ready meals and Chardonnay. Her poor children are deprived of home cooked food! I bet they are SOOO relieved when they get back to boarding school.

I get so cross with her when she doesn't take up my suggestion to turn 1 of her several acres of land into an organic vegetable patch instead of installing a swimming pool.

I just don't get how people make such bad choices!

clemette, I have sent you a CAT.

ElieRM · 12/08/2009 22:16

i dislike people who upset/offend people for cheap kicks. glad the original thread died a death.

clemette · 12/08/2009 22:18

I replied a while ago

Portofino · 12/08/2009 22:23

I'll see it in the morning.....

I still don't see nynob as a troll though. Maybe just misguided.

clemette · 12/08/2009 22:25

Ah, patience has never been my forte - have replied to both addresses anyway.
Thank you.

Portofino · 12/08/2009 22:35

Have replied

clemette · 12/08/2009 22:43

Now my mind boggles as to how she does that work in soft play centres!

PS nybom - it is not considered good academic form to claim a PhD when one has not yet been achieved
PPS Still bemused how THAT makes you more qualified than a HV to talk about BF.

OK, OK, I'm going...

Portofino · 13/08/2009 09:35

Phew - Mumsnet's not broken! I've been in a panic all morning that I have been ostracised!

curiositykilled · 13/08/2009 09:43

Nybom did make up her qualifications, she said her academic background was in sociology, it was not, she has not studied sociology at all. When we all doubted that, based on her lack of knowledge about sociology, and asked her to say to what level she was qualified she claimed a PhD, implying it was in Sociology, when she is yet to attain her PhD.

She's not a troll, she's just a narcissist prone to hystrionics. I believe the two threads were started genuinely. I still maintain she wants MN to like her (and her work), all her other threads have similar attention seeking behaviour. Unless she's genuinely on a mission to upset people which is also possible.

curiositykilled · 13/08/2009 10:11

In case anyone is interested, I have made a complaint to mumsnet about nybom's recent behaviour. When I thought about it I think she probably started both threads just to raise awareness of her art. The things she said and the way she refused to apologise I found unacceptable, if it was all for advertising purposes then all the worse. I'd urge any of you who were upset by her claims to contact mumsnet to complain too - particularly elieRM and KembleTwins.

It will probably come to nothing, but I think it's worth making it known. I suspect the reason she flatly refused to tell us anything about herself was so she couldn't get into trouble for advertising.

Portofino · 13/08/2009 10:27

She never mentioned the art though. It never came up (I don't think) until I owned up to googling her. Unless she was being deliberately obtuse so that someone did exactly that...?

Her behaviour on the thread was very strange though. And the BF stuff was completely out of order.

poshsinglemum · 13/08/2009 10:29

YANBU- rich people are disgraceful.
Im not being ironic either.
Unless they are philanthropists. then I can just about forgive them!

ElieRM · 13/08/2009 10:37

i shall complain. she evidentally had no issue with being outed; she was thrilled when portfino mentioned her art. i wonder if she is a compulsive liaras so many oof her claims were untrue, and she obviously had n way of backing them up?
either way, her behaviour was shocking.

bleh · 13/08/2009 10:38

Wait, so what was she qualified in after all that?

clemette · 13/08/2009 10:40

She has a degree in Educational Science, English & Art.

curiositykilled · 13/08/2009 10:46

portofino - you are right she never mentioned it. But she did say 'well done girls' when we all started unmasking her and didn't seem to mind having been unmasked when she had been so cagey before. I think she started the second thread because no-one unmasked her in the first and she couldn't/wouldn't say who she was herself because she didn't want to get in trouble with MN.

Portofino · 13/08/2009 10:47

I didn't in fact mention the art. I said that she was talented and should stick to that and mind her own business otherwise.

She came back all !!!!!and asked which I liked best. I guess everyone was frantically googling at that point. I was rather hoping she would just own up.

Portofino · 13/08/2009 10:48

Cross posts there......

K999 · 13/08/2009 10:48

Oh, how some people get their kick...

curiositykilled · 13/08/2009 10:49

I think she couldn't have risked owning up. She wanted people to go look at her website for themselves. If she'd have owned up she could've got in trouble with MN.

Portofino · 13/08/2009 10:51

It's totally bizarre! The more I think about it, I think Curiousity is right. She was deliberately working every one up. So am I a mug for falling for it - if that's what she wanted all the time? To get publicity for her horrid pictures.....

curiositykilled · 13/08/2009 10:53

Well, I think it's unacceptable behaviour whatever happened. No matter what I think of her art, I will not be mentioning her name or artwork to anyone in RL, I won't give her the satisfaction or the publicity. I hope for her children's sake she's a lot less cold-hearted in real life.

jemart · 13/08/2009 10:55

Oh mind your own business and stop being jealous of others you daft bint.

ElieRM · 13/08/2009 10:56

Portofino- you are NOT a mug. She was deliberately cagey and wanted to get people curious. Of course you wanted to know who she was, we all did.
Anyway, I'm glad we know. I doubt anyone's going to buy her pictures or direct anyone to her website. I feel better for knowing she was talking utter rubbish.
What does she expect now? A sudden surge of interest in her art? Somehow I can't see it happening.
So portofino- worry not!

ihavenewsockson · 13/08/2009 10:57

i think her art sucks
