To want the dc s just to go to bed!!

I do love being a mum - most of time !but when its bedtime and the children want to chatand keep me with them and i want to go downstairs for glass wine etc i seem to turn from being quite reasonable ish to a orgre in 3o seconds flat !!! I picture in my mind families all reading stories and being nice and ive just turned into a she devil!! plus my dc s are 12 and 10- when is it ok not to go up and say goodnight- part of me hates it part of me wd feel bad if i didnt go upstairs ....

you would feel bad if you didn't go up to say goodnight but some sort of order or routine needs to be established so your dcs know when enough is enough.

It's lovely that they want to talk with you at their age. My dd grunts.
