Keep Thinking About A Little Boy

There was a little boy at the park today. A very sad and angry little boy.

He was shouting at the other kids in the park. Punching anyone that got in the way. He didn't know how to play.

He tried to push my friends daughter down a high ladder, then he dragged another child off of the top of the slide by their head and tried to kick another child down some steps.

I went to speak to him and said "oooo, be careful with the other children" and he said "I do what I like" and so I said "don't push anyone, especially at the top as if they fall all the way down they could really hurt themselves" and he said "I don't care" and he said "i'm going to hurt you, kick your ass" and so I said "I don't think so" and he said "shut up" and so I asked him where his Mum and Dad were and he said he "didn't have a Dad" and that I should "shut up or I would be sorry". So I just asked him to be careful of the other children.

Lots of other Mums were saying what a horrible, out of control boy he was and he was but I can't help but to wonder what his experiences are for him to be like that.

He was so, so angry, so agressive and he looked so sad (when I spoke to him his eyes were empty) and I can't help but think about him tonight. He was only about 7 or 8.

lou33 · 31/07/2009 22:17

i am just wondering why his mum didnt do or say anything?

saggyhairyarse · 31/07/2009 22:23

She was sat on a bench outside of the play area smoking and drinking.

I find children like this are usually at the park alone.

LynetteScavo · 31/07/2009 22:24

Drinking as in alcohol?

hester · 31/07/2009 22:25

How depressing. Poor kid.

saggyhairyarse · 31/07/2009 22:25

I was in asda last week, there was a woman in front of me, 30ish, with small child, and her mum. She put the shopping through, but asked the assistant to tell her how much it was before she scanned a couple of pies. It was £28.30, so only had £30, so had to put the 2 pies back.

I know its more the norm these days but it made me feel truely sad too, I wish I had given her the fiver for them. I'm not "rich" but have never had to do shopping wondering whether I would have enough cash in my purse

saggyhairyarse · 31/07/2009 22:45

GM, I have been in similar situation before whereby someone has not been able to pay for all their shopping. I was paying by card though and so did not want to put it on my card (though why not really I don't know) but I vowed if I had the cash on me then if it happened again I would offer to pay.

children like that really upset me cos i feel they are missing out on their childhood.

being a child should be about being happy, carefree and feeling loved.

CherylCole · 31/07/2009 22:59

So if you paid for the pies would you be ok seeing them then go and buy fags at the cigarette counter, that happened to my gran. She was fuming.

geordieminx · 31/07/2009 23:03

No, probably not, but as a smoker I would have no real right to judge.

It just made me sad, and I wisjed I had done something, but then you dont know if you would offend someone, and cause more hassle than its worth.

LynetteScavo · 31/07/2009 23:31

Sadly, it can probably be predicted the whole of this boys life won't be brilliant.

Thats such a badly phrased sentece, but forgive me - it's late!

lou33 · 31/07/2009 23:52

did she not say or do anything?

Kayteee · 31/07/2009 23:56

why are there 2 threads on this??

saggyhairyarse · 01/08/2009 09:34

No, she sat on a bench not within the confines of the childrens play area and did not intervene at all. We didn't know how is mother was til they left.

And Kayteee, clearly it is just to annoy you being that you are the multiple thread Police!
