DS2 (16mo) has had a snotty nose since Thursday. Its eased right up now, he's got a bit of a cough from the flem but thats all.

DS1 (3) has a bit of a snotty nose

I sneeze every now and then and have a bit of a snotty nose too, but nothing major - maybe blowing it once or twice an hour.

None of us have temperatures, or upset stomachs, or any other aches and pains.

My gut feeling is that it is a normal (summer) cold - we havent suffered in this house with colds for a good couple of months so one was overdue.

So AIBU to still send them to nursery and go to work tomorrow? We all feel fine, I suppose I'm just worried people will see us and shout "Swine" at us and wanted to sound you guys out first.

Surely normal colds are doing the rounds too?

DD has bacterial tonsillitis. Diagnosed by a paediatrician (long story...)
She will be at nursery and I will be (being pathetic) at work.

Yes they are and no yanbu. i've been to work with a normal cold, dd3 has been to nursery with same. Yes it could be swine flu but if it is then it's the most pathetic flu I've ever had!

You're sending her in with tonsilitis?

Poor thing - I just want to be at home when I'm not well. A cold is different to tonsilitis IMO.

I hope you sent them, it sounds nothing more than the sniffles which we have had as well. No temps, just a bi coldy.

I wouldn't send in with tonsillitis as they usually feel like crap and just want to be home being cuddled or sleeping.

it's not contagious-it's infectious.

well we all went to nursery - got a few raised eyebrows but I said if they thought they had a temperature to ring me, and they didnt - so they'll be back in tomorrow.

on the other point, notevenamouse please be careful sending in with bacterial tonsilitus, especially to a nursery where germs are easily spread. I dread DS1 catching tonsilitus again as last time he ended up in hospital for 3 days with convulsions. I'm also one who easily catches it and can have it for up to 6 weeks - if I heard a kiddie was still going to nursery contagious with something like that I think I would question it personally.

Just to clarify - she has had it for 6 days. She had the first two off at home. She is very well in herself.
We all make the best compromises we can at the time - these things are most infectious before there are symptoms, I don't think the other children are especially at risk.

Why oh why do people send ill children out into the world to pass it on to others???? BTW I don't work and so may have a skewed idea of all this!!

Although you could pass it onto a child who has a newborn in their house, or a very elderly relative, or someone who has had chemo and could not take another knock.

Glad you sent them, DD's have had summer cold, no temp, grumpy, sneezing and runny nose.
I took them to sainsbury's and could feel the muttering and disapproval!

I apologise then notevenamouse - after 6 days I can understand her going in, I misunderstood you and thought she'd only just got it.

JackBauer - I've had that too. Was in morrisions and could feel people twittering behind their hands at me & DS2 sneezing. Bah.
