the following categories?

Celebrity 'nice' MNer

Celebrity 'naughty' MNer

Visiting 1 problem poster

Secret journo poster

Short lived poster, 'visiting' from another site and feeling like a tourist abroad, enjoyed it while it lasts but happy to go back to the home comforts

Majority MNers, well everyone else really who fill in the gaps between the top 2 groups' discussions, without anyone really noticing

and now the returning 'Zombies'

This follows on from whomovedmychocolate's thread here and I thought I would throw it to the AIBU wolves

May I just pop in and suggest Threadkiller MNers? I am fairly (although not intentionally) good at it (under various names too) and I know I'm not alone.

VoodootheSneezyPig · 21/07/2009 22:24

is your cat literally a greebo, or just called Greebo?

maybe there should be a 'misleading name' group?

SecretNinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2009 22:25

well i think i fit into the (furry) animal: mythical or otherwise category but i also fit into the Defector category as i came here after finding another site got too fluffy and (((((((huggy))))))))) and their siggys got too long and spangly.
wtf is a zombie by the way? does it have something to do with newborns?

ilovemydogandmrobama · 21/07/2009 22:25

Think MN can be grouped into:

How Crap Dogs/Owners Are...

How Crap Americans/their culture/their Language... (but not their President )

How Crap B/Fing or FF is...

MIAonline · 21/07/2009 22:27

Hmm, like the suggestion, but not sure Greebo. Perhaps there could be some interest in seeing which category of MNer is a thread killer the most often though?

MIAonline · 21/07/2009 22:33

A Zombie?

Well I can't take the credit for the name as it was on whomovedmychocolate's thread when she asked 'If the dead and mouldy start rising from their graves, do you have a plan?

But, I think it sits well

MIAonline · 21/07/2009 22:34

It's another term for mouldies.

MumOfAPickle · 21/07/2009 22:42

Well I lurked for months. Posted once in desperation (bf issues) and then nothing for ages and ages. Now I lurk more than post and still bugger off for days. Always come back and something terribly exciting seems to have happened and I wonder what I've missed.

Do try to keep up with the scandals but there's SO many

Am sometimes scared of reaction to a post Some of you are so bloody well informed

MIAonline · 21/07/2009 22:45

Good point MumOfAPickle, there is a band of the well informed across so many areas of life. Some of the Mners almost have Professor status.

OP posts:
MIAonline · 21/07/2009 22:49

Nah, the 'Profs' are so good at what they do and people love them for their knowledge so they fit in to nice celebrity MNer category.

OP posts:
ingles2 · 21/07/2009 22:57

Can I be a prefect of longwinded Mnetters please?

MumOfAPickle · 21/07/2009 22:59

Oooh thanks MIA, nice to make a good point!

Which reminds me of another potential category - people with no 'friends' on MN.

And really am not having pity party here Realise its entirely my own fault for the lack of posts/constant buggering off (see above) but I've never had that whole doodah waves at thingy across the room stuff and am ever so slightly envious of those who have it.

Maybe there's more of us scattered across MN and we could start our own tribe

MumOfAPickle · 21/07/2009 23:02

And in true 'Lonely MNer' style am buggering off to bed!

Jude68 · 21/07/2009 23:06

what am I then? I have no idea....

PortBlacksandResident · 21/07/2009 23:51

At the end of the day i think i'm on of those who posts here and there, sometimes to be helpful, sometimes in sheer indignation at someone's attitude.

I like it when someone acknowledges my post.

I love it when i get a named mention or a LOL.

But i'm really here for me not for other people to comment on me and tbh Mumsnet has been my saving grace in a few years of hell difficult times.

MIAonline · 22/07/2009 09:39

I will look out for you mumofapickle.

There is something interesting in the tribe thing and the wanting to be acknowledged that I have often wondered about.

Anyway, my 1st thread with over a 100 replies.

More amazingly, not even one YABU

Thanks everyone.

melmog · 22/07/2009 10:20

Mumofapickle, can I be your mn friend??
I'd wave at you but don't know how!

MIAonline · 22/07/2009 10:40

Perhaps there should be a lonely hearts category where you can meet other like minded MNers.

MN aged --
would like to meet
other MNer for waves across a forum, acknowledgements of posts, starting a thread with your name in.

Interests include... (insert which side of the fence for the 'big' ones, ff Vs BF, BLW, CC, SAHM, WOHM etc etc)

OP posts:
VoodootheSneezyPig · 22/07/2009 14:18

jude68 - you can be the leader of the group with numbers in their names.

VoodootheSneezyPig · 22/07/2009 14:19

have you met the other 67 Judes?

VoodootheSneezyPig · 22/07/2009 14:19

Jude69 is rude

ImmaculateContraception · 22/07/2009 14:21

namechange..
I was voodoo, now I am def. meant to be in namechange group.

alittlebitfat · 22/07/2009 14:24

....totally lost, fairly new, baffled at abbreviations, how do you kill a thread? And why?

MorrisZapp · 22/07/2009 15:09

I love the fact that MN is so diverse, but the downside is that I can never remember the names of people I've interacted with.

I used to be a 'celebrity' poster on another (non parenting) forum but here I'm nobody. It's refreshing because nobody says 'oh but you would say that' etc.

It's like meeting everybody fresh every time. I should write down the names of people who've made me laugh so I can attempt to wave across the room to them.

But I'm scared of being left flapping in the wind when they totally blank me.

Anyway, I like the general lack of 'oh how did you get on the other day' on unrelated threads etc. Makes us all equal, like.
