to think that a wedding ring should last a bit longer ?

Okay it's only 9 carat and it wasn't expensive (alright cheap then ) but am rather upset that it's broken. Noticed a hairline crack a week or so ago and then today whilst stopping a kids roundabout it just broke. It is 15 years old but have not had it altered or anything. Have worn this ring doing all kinds of things and am sentimentally attached but don't want to get it repaired if there's no point and will just happen again. Waddya think get it fixed or does it just mean that I need to do much less housework and to be bought better quality jewellery (as told to DH)?

I had to have my wedding ring cut off during my last pregnancy when my fingers swelled up like sausages, but then had it remoulded afterwards and it was good as new, plus shiny too! So I'd say get it fixed AND do less housework x

My wedding ring is a month short of twenty years old and cosi £19.99. It looks good as knew - which means it looks like cheap tat . But I love it and won't let DH buy me a replacement.
I expect it will just disappear at some stage

DH and I both have similar, but not matching wedding rings - both have 'plaits' of gold wire soldered onto the solid band. DH's ring kept on 'breaking' - one of the wire strands would snap and start to peel away. I think we took it back to be repaired 3 times before they just gave up and made him a new one. They weren't cheap, either. He always took it off for anything that might damage it, and we both think wedding rings should last longer than a couple of years!

I would get it fixed.
And then insist on a new eternity ring to sit alongside it to add 'reinforcement'

Ta for the suggestions - had just said the same as Jack to DH. Also realised that it's a really nice problem to have - still really happy and broke it playing with smashing lovely kids - so yes, iabu to moan about it

try looking for an antique - there's not a big market for plain antique wedding bands therefore so cheap the dealer threw it in with the engagement ring for free. it's survived 100 years so it will probably be good for a few more...

Get it fixed

Mine broke in two weeks .

Admittedly, it was the stone in mine that broke and that was my own fault. Apparently if you hit a diamond just right (or in my case, get a car to hit you and put your ring in the way), it will split
