To not allow 2.5 year old DD to take this to bed with her...

It's one of those buggy tie things that you use to attach things to the buggy. She has been enjoying playing with it all afternoon, learning how to work the popper.

Anyway - she's a total hoarder and would take all manner of stuff to bed with her. My issue with this thing is that it essentially a strap with a fixed loop at one end and I'm worried about her exploring it further, getting it caught round her neck and possibly tightening it too much etc and we wouldn't know to be able to help her.

DH was rather rude about me taking it off her.

What do you think?

My dd is the same age and does the same and I would have done the same, I just tell my dd she can't have it in bed it will break

Is it really long enough to strangle her?

giddykipper · 18/07/2009 20:50

I take the path of least resistance - I would have let her take it to bed then gone and got it when she was asleep

Yurtgirl · 18/07/2009 20:55

I thought those were deliberately not long enough to be useable for strangling (sp?)

My 5yo dd is a hoarder of tat - Within reason I let her get on with it.

My ds who is 7 thought about climbing out of his bedroom window today - which worries me ore than I would about your situtation tbh

Dont fret - kids are always getting themselves into a pickle, but rarely do they cause any real harm - when she is older the stress she causes you will be greater!!!! (if my experiences today are anything to go by)

I think you did right taking it off her, my dd2 age 3 nearly lost her finger the other week, when unbeknown to me she'd taken a cushion into bed with her, that had a really small loop of ribbon on the end (to hang it off the wall, small cushion said baby on it) and she managed to wrap the ribbon really tightly round her finger and fall asleep, luckily I checked on her and found her finger a horrible shade of purple, dh and I had to wake her up and make sure she was ok/finger returned to normal, scarey

It's good to know that other LOs like to fill their beds with all sorts!

Very scary about the window climber

DH tucked her in to bed first while I BF DS and then I went in afterwards to kiss her goodnight. I assumed DH had seen it and not worried about it, so when I came back downstairs I said that I hope he didn't mind but I was worried about it so I'd brought it down with me.

He leapt on my 'I hope you don't mind' and 'in that tone' said 'why say I hope you don't mind when you have no intention of changing your actions. What if I said I did mind?' I thought he was being quite mean.
