to be furious at nursery

DS 3.5 went to sports day and as was leaving was given a carton of milk to take home with him.

He drank about half and said he didnt like it - when i threw it away it had curdled - i checked the date and it was 28 JUNE - 9 DAYS OUT OF DATE.

I cant believe that the nursery would be so bloody incompetent that they dont stock control

oh dear, i would bring it up with nursery (nicely) and see what they say, it could have been delivered that day and be the milk mans fault not theirs, as most places have regular milk deliveries as storage is a problem

HuffwardlyRudge · 10/07/2009 08:29

Maybe they freeze it? I buy a fortnight's worth of milk in one go and freeze the lot, thawing it when needed.

thefortbuilder · 10/07/2009 08:29

yes broach it calmly - as littleducks said it may be down to the milkman?

bubblagirl · 10/07/2009 08:30

i was going to say too most freeze so you cant go by date maybe the heat of the day had curdled the milk

racmac · 10/07/2009 10:28

I asked at nursery - they have no idea how it got there - they have procedures in place to ensure milk is sent back to the school kitchen if nearing end of life - they do not freeze milk - someone messed up.

Not a lot i can do - they apologised a lot and have promised they will go check all the fridge but im still amazed it can happen.

These things happen. Drinking a mouthful of curdled milk is not going to kill your lo. Accept their apology graciously and if it happens again then unleash your fury upon them!

racmac · 10/07/2009 10:56

I know - i cant do anything about it - they have promised they will look into it.

IT was more like half a carton though not a mouthfull - how he wasnt sick i dont know!

Sorry to tell you but hundreds of things like this will happen as your lo gets older. The mother of one of my ds1 friends complains about everything. He's now started to talk about how unprofessional his teacher is (she's not btw).

Mistakes are very easy to make. Put it down to stressed staff
