Now I am very tidy in the house but my car is squallid. DP got in it last night and said 'Christ GetOrf, this is like a builder's van'. And it is. I looked at it this morning and I have four empty drinks bottles, a coffee cup, a Sunday Times from 3 weeks ago, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 suit jackets, a book, 2 tennis rackets, a bag of maltesers (these were hidden under the seat, an unexpected treat) and about 10 cd cases in the footwell. There are also about a dozen old parking tickets on the dashboard.

DP can't believe I drive round a car which is such a tip. He says that I am a hypocrite for nagging him about putting orange juice back in the fridge when my car is such a state.

I don't care. I tidy everything else I can't be arsed to clean out my bloody car

But getting from A to B is in no way dependent on it being tidy, Expat? Unless it might become less aerodynamic with crisp packets inside it?

Air freshener is a no-no - I have very bad memories of vanilla with undertones of vomit.

Messy car, messy house. Cleaning your car is just another dull dull chore. I actully view spotless cars as I do spotless house - a bit odd.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 08/07/2009 12:57

My car is minging.

expatinscotland · 08/07/2009 13:22

I sort of see it as a mutual deal between me and Peanut (our car), though: I treat it well and it keeps giving us a ride.

Another car slob here. No rubbish in there tho as I do have a small plastic bin for parking receipts, sweet wrappers etc.

It's the kids stuff - honestly.

Theres about 5million paintings
another 2million sticky pictures with the pasta falling off.
kids coats
kids pre-school bags
kids socks
kids shoes
theres an odd couple of jelly-tots in ds's car seat.

The boot is a bombsite!
In there there is:-
a shopping box and bags
A car care kit (sprays/polishes etc - and does get used every Sunday month)
Things I'm hiding from DH as I know he won't go in there.
More kids coats
More kids clothes (from recent holiday, spilled out of the unclosable suitcase)

The only bit of mess I am shamed about really is the cd's as I have an awful habit of forgetting to put them back in the glove box/door pockets and they end up in the passenger footwell and I forget until my mum pr DH steps on it

I my polly tho - I wouldn't drive any other. Yet.

Sorry the last bit was supposed to say

I heart my Polly!

pasturesnew · 10/07/2009 22:27

my car is pretty messy inside and the trim got pulled off by monkeys at Longleat. Good thing about this is when MIL left car keys in it overnight no-one took it! DH has done this too. Am sure my turn will come.

sheepgomeep · 10/07/2009 22:29

I am so not the only one.

The inside of my car would put you all to shame

ingles2 · 10/07/2009 22:36

my car really is rank...
I have a stinky, hairy dog that leaves hair everywhere along with dirty footprints all across the boot and windows.
I've got 2 stinky hairy boys, who leave crisp packets, crumbs, sweaty football socks, clumps of football pitch, bits of homework, various pictures/paintings, water bottles and clothes/kit galore
and then there's me with bags, fag packets, library books, coffee cups and a million car park tickets
Shameful really....

shoshe · 10/07/2009 22:38

You should have my car, it is a 8 seater, three rows, 7 childrens seats (4 of them stage 1/2, so never get taken out)

Every row of seats has a lots of room under them, supposedly it has boxes under the seats for wet weather gear, wellies, sunhats spare nappies suncream you get the picture)

I had to clean it out and remove all the car seats the other day (sickness bug, two kids threw up in the car)

I threw out 1 black bag full of rubbish.

Raisins and banana chips were breeding under the car seats.

6 missing sippy cups were relocated back to the dishwasher (in fact one o the bin, God knows how long it had been there)

And this I really have no idea how it got there ....... My favorite bra, that has been missing for weeks, was in the boot under the double and single buggies!

My house like the rest of you, is clean and tidy

pickyvic · 10/07/2009 22:46

now i can be smug and virtuous for a whole....minute or two! ive just cleaned my car out cos we are going on an outing tomorrow and taking one of DD friends - i didnt want her going home and telling her mum our car was a health hazard! so ive given it its yearly hoover! lol

mrsrawlinson · 13/07/2009 09:42

I've managed to fool my DH into believing that the mess in my car is actually a sophisticated anti-theft device which makes potential thieves think someone has been there first and ransacked it already.

I may never clean my car again!

LucyMinter · 13/07/2009 09:46

Your car sounds Ok Getorf. Ours had things growing mould under the seats, I've since declared it a food free zone. Trouble is getting both kids into the house safely and then having time to go back and get all the wrappers and stuff out of the car, it's just too dififcult.

It's having a service this week so had to clean it out but WHY is there that fuzzy carpet in the bottom? How can amnufacturers expect us to keep that clean - it won't hoover, it just clings to all the crumbs and guff that gets dropped on it.

I need a car with vinyl flooring.

saintmaybe · 13/07/2009 10:03

mine is really awful

really

The aa man complained about it

My friend said 'it's not the car of a completely sane person, is it?'

And when Labour party conference was being held in town and the police were doing spot checks on cars, they laughed when they opened my boot because the seed that we'd bought previously to feed the ducks had spilled out and grown into long grass

I don't get it at all. Why on earth don't I clean it?

Indiechick · 13/07/2009 10:26

I'm a car slut too and my MIL and Mother are arriving at the weekend and probably expect a lift so might have to do some cleaning this week. Found a mouldy fruit pastile under dd1's seat the other day, yum!
