to not buy shoes from this shop?

I was looking for a pair of white or light blue special occasion shoes for my ds. For his cousins birthday party.
There is a little boutique in town that sells baby clothes so i went there. As soon as i entered the lady offered me help so i explained that i needed shoes to go with an outfit for a birthday party. She showed me an outfit she had in the sale that would fit my ds, i said i didn't need an outfit and i didn't really like the style of that one (or price lol). She replied that she likes it - that's why she has the shop. Oops.
So she got out some shoes, after telling her ds needs a size 21, she brought size 19 and size 22 because she had no 21s. So i tried the 22 just in case, but they were huge. She suggested that i buy them anyway because by the time the 'WEDDING' comes (birthday party) his feet will have grown, it is 2 weeks away. I said no thanks but i might pop back in.

Now i know it was a little boutique and not a shop that fits shoes or measures feet, but surely for 33 pounds, the shoe should be the right size?

Gah, i just like a rant really. Theres no where else in this small town to buy the kind of shoes i wanted so i will probably need to go back anyway.

what- go back and buy the bigger size?
ask if she can order them in for you. £33 is a lot of money to spend on shoes! Have a look online.

Well I caqn sympathise a bit with a shop-owner who is desperate for custom in the current climat but - try Ebay.

Gosh it sounds like Royston Vasey. Second ebay, they have some great stuff along these lines, very cheap, you could prob get two sizes for a tenner to see which fits.

Oh, I know we all have to make a living and we should support independent traders but I hate those sort of boutiquey shops. They're always SO expensive compared to online shopping and the shopkeepers have frightening powers of persuasion. I was once out on a hot day when my girls were little. I ended up being hardsold into spending about twenty quid on a hat. I could never look at that hat again and not mutter about it!

It wasn't even a very nice hat! Just happened to have a French label or something.

The shop didn't have what you wanted in stock, so you didn't buy it, perfectly reasonable! If you know the size online is the way to go, and you can polish your community halo as you gave the local shop a try before ebay

There's a brilliant kids shoe shop near me that won't let you buy a pair of shoes for your child unless the sales woman is completely satisfied that they fit perfectly, cos you can do so much damage to growing feet with the wrong size/width etc. That's the attitude you want! Don't they say if the assistant asks you what size your kids feet are to walk out of the shop?

definitely try online rather than go back and get the wrong size!
she sounds too pushy and desperate to sell, even though the items are not the best thing for the customer

Thanks! I have found some on ebay ending in 5 minutes. Fingers crossed.

Was trying to remember the brand of the ones she showed me, Fafeetoes? Something like that, but obviously not that as i can't find them lol, any ideas?
Ds will prob wear them once anyway, go climbing and take all the colour off anyway.
