AIBU - to be a party pooper?

We had planned a small bbq for just the family for DS's 1st birthday.

But thanks to DH, there are 40 + people coming with bouncy castle, face painting, balloon modelling, pinata, lots of beer and wine and all the rest!

I just know it will be all too much for DS!

Im being a party pooper arent I?

He can go inside and have a nap surely? He doesn't have to be in the thick of it, all day.

bouncy castle, face painting, balloon modelling, pinata,

for a 1 year old?

seriously?

What you gonna do when he hits 10? Hire the Russian State circus?

cheekster · 02/07/2009 22:51

Thats my point exactly, disenchanted!

You're a misery.
Fact.

ineedalifelaundry · 02/07/2009 22:52

It's too much for a 1 yr old imo. My dd will be one soon - we are having a very low key party with just closest family - 10 people including dd.

cheekster · 02/07/2009 22:53

I agree, I am a misery, I just need to enjoy the day dont I!

Just slightly OTT, perhaps?

Go with the flow, let the fun happen, just make sure that you are in charge of ds's day - he naps when he needs to nap, and he doesn't get passed from pillar to post if it upsets him, no matter that Auntie Nora hasn't had a cuddle yet, or that So-and-So hasn't arrived yet, etc.

slowreadingprogress · 02/07/2009 23:14

you are not a misery

that is a ridiculous party for a 1 yr old!
