I was walking down the high street with DD. Two cars came speeding to a stop (that doesn't make sense i know, but you know what i mean) at a zebra crossing. Young drivers, obviously racing. Music BLARING, i mean, BLARING. Young girl sat in front seat, swigging can of Stella.

CAR SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT, WITH ?? 4 MONTH OLD BABY IN IT!! [SHOCK][ANGRY]

poor wee mite must have been deafened! I also couldn't help but wonder if that can of beer was being passed to the driver too.

I made a comment that i bet the baby loved that music and they turned it off and gave me daggers. Thinking on it though, i was a bit slow - i should have noted the number plate and phoned the police. Drove off before that thought registered past my outrage .

i thought that too cfc. I think it should be too - that first swig of a pint of lager always makes me feel really tired.

How do you know they were racing? It could have been a medical emergency and they were trying to get to the hospital! Perhaps the woman in the front was in labour, and the Stella was for pain relieving properties?

Anyway, I'm still curious how you know the baby was 4 months old and how they heard you if the music was so loud and you were outside the car on a zebra crossing? Unless they were lip reading?

imaynotbeperfectbutimokmummy · 03/07/2009 14:04

Yeah right alestorm - a medical emergency that involved the car in front and gesticulating out of the windows to each other.

I knew the baby was four months, obviously because i have a inbred scanner in my eye. Twas just a guess.

I assume they heard me, they turned the music off - was between tracks maybe??

Think the mother should have been at home looking after the child instead of racing around with her homeys!

but then, of course, it could have been her big sister.

anyway, i'm off out now to make sure that all children are only listening to baby motzart and that appropriate summer wear is being worn.

Well i was being slightly tongue in cheek there, but my point was that You Never Know what people's situations are. And as for the mother should be at home looking after her child, well, i can only hope that you're being tongue in cheek too because that's just fucking ridiculous.

If the baby was only 4 months old then surely it was still in a rear facing car seat? (If not, then great - another reason to judge!!) so you must have been practically peering through the window to see how old it was!

I dunno, I just don't see the point of judging these people, I mean, it just seems like a lot of effort for not very much gain, surely?

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 14:12

hmmmm...OP, with this one I can see why you judged....loud music and Baby in car, not a good idea, never mind the racing/irresponsible driving....
some people jsut don't have any sense ...not so sure why mother and Baby were meant to be home though....don't think you have to be at home with your child to be a good mum......but yeah, the kind of enterainment you seek shold be appropriate

imaynotbeperfectbutimokmummy · 03/07/2009 14:38

fair lady, like alestorm, i was being tongue in cheek!

Come to think of it alestorm, the seat was front facing - so my scanner is obviously playing up .

Anyway - please don't judge me for judging, tis one of the only pleasures i get
