To think that the cover of OK this week is a bit sick?

I thought they'd gone as low as they could with the Jade memorial issue before the poor girl had died, but this week is just as bad, if not worse.

The cover, if you haven't seen it, is a picture of Michael Jackson with what looks like some kind of oxygen mask on his face, with a huge caption above saying 'The last pictures'.
Bloody hell-whatever the man did in life, surely he deserves a bit of respect in death? According to some reports he was already dead by the time the ambulance arrived, so the magazine possibly has a picture of a corpse on the front. Lovely.

I know that if I don't like it I shouldn't look etc, but I saw it yesterday at eye level in Sainsburys so I couldn't really avoid it. By the way, yes, i'm fully aware i'm going to get told off for starting another MJ thread, but I wanted to have a moan about this horrible magazine!

Well it is ghoulish, but they are ghouls - I'd expect nothing less!

Reginamygina · 01/07/2009 09:03

I saw it in WhSmith yesterday and made the same comment as you: How low can OK get?
I found it so disrespectful, MJ or not.

YA def NBU

KingRolo · 01/07/2009 09:27

I'd be surprised if that actually was one of the 'last pictures'. It could have been taken ages ago. He looks reasonably well there, like he's got make-up on.

CurryMaid · 01/07/2009 09:28

we "unveil never-before-seen pictures of the star's final moments."

Blurgh.

That is horrid.

Pinkjenny · 01/07/2009 09:32

I thought he looked like he was smiling in that picture on the cover!

LisaD1 · 01/07/2009 09:35

Sadly we live in a world of misery spreading media and there's little we can do about it, unless every single one of us stopped buying their crap, and that's not going to happen as there are too many people who live their own lives addicted to the rubbish these publications put out.

YA most definitley NBU

KingRolo · 01/07/2009 09:37

Love the way they've changed the usual red to black and put 'with all our love and prayers' on the title.

whoisasking · 01/07/2009 09:38

YANBU

I did take some comfort from the fact that there was a HUGE stack of them still in our local newsagents (and in the petrol garage) which makes me think that people aren't buying them

hobbgoblin · 01/07/2009 09:43

Really though, the fault lies with the punters to which they cater, does it not?

hobbgoblin · 01/07/2009 09:43

to whom, sorry

pjmama · 01/07/2009 09:44

OMG that's awful?! I can't believe they think anyone wants to see that? Whatever you think of him, the poor man deserves some dignity in his last moments, not having a bloody camera shoved in his face. I won't be buying it and I hope they've really shot themselves in the foot with this one.

yarrow5 · 01/07/2009 09:45

disgusting!!! he's intubated so they're keeping him alive, so yeah, technically dead!!! where's the dignity in that?

MamaG · 01/07/2009 09:45

I've refused to buy OK since the JG memorial issue

its just too horrid

KingRolo · 01/07/2009 09:47

I don't know about OK magazine in particular but apparently sales of gossip mags are falling, looks like they've had their day.

Although I suspect the reason why is that people are getting the celeb twaddle gossip online instead, not because everyone has suddenly gone all moral.

Jojay · 01/07/2009 09:47

YANBU. I was horrified when I saw it

Servalan · 01/07/2009 09:47

YANBU - I also saw it at eye level in the Supermarket yesterday and it actually made me double-take.

It's one thing for them to put that picture on the front of the magazine, but to then have the nerve to refer to it as a "Tribute Issue" - well, words fail me.

Overmydeadbody · 01/07/2009 09:50

God that is awful.

Ok have sunk to new depths of low.

SolidGoldBrass · 01/07/2009 09:53

OK has always been utter rubbish! I think between this and the Jade Goody premature death tribute issue (which, magnificently, was actually Issue 666) that it;s so unbelievably tastesless it;s really funny. The staff must be having a whale of a time oing - 'We CAN'T do that, surely... Oh yes we can, go on I dare you...'

SlartyBartFast · 01/07/2009 09:55

that is terrible, he died, obviously he was unwell or he wouldnt have died, the Sun on tuesday had a terrible story line about his condition. i don't want to know.
