to be very, very glad that Jo Whiley isn't one of the mums at our school's gates?

She's too perfect. I have read two interviews with her in the last few days and I would end up avoiding all contact with her if she was at the school gates. She shares a bed with her kids (odd, certainly, but they all snuggle up lovingly apparantly), her daughter was present at the birth of her youngest, they all sat in one Sunday afternoon and played Monopoly together, then had a lovely Sunday lunch. We stayed in, fought constantly, one was sent to bed early and we had beans on toast (honestly). She also has Chris Martin on speed dial. Sigh. She's a supermum and I would bitch about her at coffee mornings.

But what do you really think Alestorm?

Quattrocento · 28/06/2009 23:08

Why is sharing a bed with her children odd?

Alestorm · 28/06/2009 23:10

saintmaybe. i'm just trying out this new name before anyone figures out who i used to be!

brimfull · 28/06/2009 23:10

do i sound bitter???? lol

mrsboogie · 28/06/2009 23:17

ehm.. didn't she shag someone really really embarrassing?

MaggieBeeBeau · 28/06/2009 23:18

I think there are FAR more annoying people out there.

Jo Whiley doesn't register on my 'annoyance-radar'. She's kind of ordinary for a sleb. What does she do? I'm Irish so if she's on the radio I wouldn't have a notion. I have heard of her though.

cherryblossoms · 28/06/2009 23:20

Kiwikat's post has made me laugh.

Sometimes I wonder if celebrity interviews are randomly generated, especially the "family" ones, with just a few individualising elements programmed in for the illusion of authenticity.

The bizarre inclusion of the personalised monopoly game was a sort of "rock-chick" version of our friend in North London (the one with the floating shelf and ability to name-drop and product-place in the face of adversity).

wrongsideof40 · 28/06/2009 23:33

Kiwi - i know the reality is probably different - but a woman can dream can't she ? Someone, somewhere - plays Monopoly with their children without it all ending in sulks and tears ............

mamas12 · 28/06/2009 23:50

Wow to describe an ordinary day as an extraordinary occurance and get us all to coo over it.
Great pr.
She's alright I suppose.

UnquietDad · 28/06/2009 23:52

The puff pieces describe her "outside".

SomeGuy · 28/06/2009 23:53

Monopoly is shite. It should end in tears and never be played again.

cornsilk · 28/06/2009 23:54

Who did she shag?

cherryblossoms · 29/06/2009 00:00

I'm banned from playing Monopoly in our family. Personally, I have a horror of "Happy Families" - whenever my growing-up family played it, the ensuing bad feeling would last for weeks.

cherryblossoms · 29/06/2009 00:01

No idea who JW has shagged.

Scrumplet · 29/06/2009 00:06

She has an autobiography coming out next month, hence popping up all over the place at the mo.

Wonderstuff · 29/06/2009 00:06

How has she matched that nailpolish to that dress?? I want her life too. I love and hate her at the same time.

DH reckons he snogged her once.

harleyd · 29/06/2009 00:06

christ, my family have never been the same since the great monopoly massacre of 1989

cornsilk · 29/06/2009 00:08

Mrs Boogie said she shagged someone embarrassing. Was it Timmy Mallett?

Wonderstuff · 29/06/2009 00:08

My dad has refused to play since the first time I beat him.

I do feel for the kids at my school who have NEVER played, not quite right that.

cornsilk · 29/06/2009 00:10

I quite like a bit of Monopoly.

MrsSpringsteen · 29/06/2009 00:12

people think i am perfect until they get to know me!

For some reason i eminate an aura of calm despite my anything but calm life

she will be just as wacko as the rest of us

MrsSpringsteen · 29/06/2009 00:14

fabulous Kiwikat

Scrumplet · 29/06/2009 00:16

at Timmy Mallet.

Monopoly never a happy affair in our house either. Mum banned my brother and I playing it, since it always ended in tears - or rather, it often didn't end, because whoever was losing wouldn't let it end, borrowing money from the bank until it ran out and then inventing more.

Much preferring a bit of Monopoly-lite (Junior Monopoly) with DS (5) these days.
