to want to tell people to cover up their cracked heels and acres of hard yellowing skin?

now that we have all gone tightless and sockless....

it is just revolting when you see a made-up woman then get to her feet and see acres of white/yellow/grey hard skin on her heels.

Have they never heard of footfiles and foot cream?

Wel..I was sooo impressed at how it really smoothed my heels. I mean, baby pink and soft, no white dry skin that looks like its been filed and needs moisturising afterwards.

It's worked a treat on the really hard pads of skin (I mean, we are talking corners) on my big toes, that nothing would shift, and believe me I've tried most stuff.

I actually want the hard skin to come back so I can have another go.

cocolepew · 28/06/2009 09:05

YANBU, I took the op as being light hearted

Ped Egg looks sore, I cant file my feet, but use exfoliator on them. Is the ped egg like filing (my toes are curling at the word 'file' [wimp])

mrsmaidamess · 28/06/2009 09:06

cocole it's not sore in the least. Much less so than anything I've tried before.

cocolepew · 28/06/2009 09:08

Hmm I was looking at them yesterday, I might bite the bullet and buy one!

mrsmaidamess · 28/06/2009 09:16

Ebay miles cheaper

cocolepew · 28/06/2009 09:19

But I want it now [stamps crustyfeet]

simplesusan · 28/06/2009 09:41

Interesting point mrsmerryweather about the line between personal grooming and duty to the public to be/look hygienic etc.

On this note could we start a campaign to make it unlawful for gross, extremely overweight, heavily tatooed, bald, goldchain encrusted, beerswilling men, to not have a shirt on in public?
I am prepared to stomach unsightly feet for the above.

IkeaSnake · 28/06/2009 10:20

I thought the ped egg was weak

mrsmerryweather · 28/06/2009 10:23

SS- yes, I'm all for that!

Basically, some of us care how we look and take care of our perosnal grooming - both for ourselves- and for other people's sensibilities. Others don't.

Some of us are sensitive to be aware that no matter how much we love our hairy legs, horny feet, tatooed torsos etc etc, that not everyone will feel the same about them- so we either stay covered up, or make an effort.

Simple.

yanbu.

I'm actually slightly phobic about feed especially unpainted yellowing toe nails - oh dear it does make me feel very nauseous.

Aware that makes me very shallow but am also pregnant and anything can make me feel sick.

Snorbs · 28/06/2009 10:46

mrsmerryweather, some us do care how we look but aren't particularly bothered if we don't meet someone else's expectations.

And some of us don't care much about how other people look as, basically, it's none of our business.

simplesusan · 28/06/2009 11:12

I have to say I have a friend and her feet are minging. They can only be described as mangled together, where her smaller toes cross over onto the bigger ones and don't lie straight. You can actually see her big toe nail from the side view.
It is gross but she insists on wearing very high, strappy, often colouful jewelled, open toed and open heeled sandals.
Now each to their own but I have often thought that perhaps she could wear less revealing footwear given the state of her feet.
(runs for cover from army of annoyed MN)

bronze · 28/06/2009 11:18

I dont have yellow feet but you know what? I really don't want supersoft baby pink ones either. They would get trashed and hurt and bleed so quickly with my lifestyle. Lucky really as finding the time to do mytoenails is hard enough.

Enough people I know have baby soft soles and heels and mashed little toes from wearing heels all the tme

mrsmaidamess · 28/06/2009 11:19

bronze, are you Zola Budd?

bronze · 28/06/2009 11:21

Not that mad. Have been trodden on barefoot by someone wearing spikes, Not nice. About 20 years too young too but maybe my lack of pampering means I dont look it

TsarChasm · 28/06/2009 11:27

Yanbu but filing my feet turns my stomach. I bought this foot grater thingy recently - urgh! but I'm trying to make myself use it.

I know there are softening creams, but do any actually remove hard skin does anyone know?

lljkk · 28/06/2009 11:33

FFS, threads like this make me despair.

Shall we all have a right moan about women under 60 with any grey in their hair, men with hairy legs and anybody with wrinkles just because they might be considered to look "revolting"? Really, they should all hide indoors all day, save up for plastic surgery or best yet just top themselves because they don't meet somebody's beauty standards .

Foot files sound "revolting", if you ask me.

Yes 'Ped Egg' that's the grater thing I bought. Newtons foot sponge is also excellent.

IkeaSnake · 28/06/2009 12:01

well as the spokesperson for foot files everywhere Lljkk we feel much maligned.

what shoudl we do, stay inside all the time~

MamaG · 28/06/2009 12:11

ooh I bought DH a ped egg yesterday

its v good and yes, I DID test it on a balloon.

mrsmerryweather · 28/06/2009 13:02

snorbs- I just wish I had your confidence in looking ungroomed.

OP posts:
Snorbs · 28/06/2009 13:30

Well, I know that a lack of self-confidence can be very debilitating so I am sympathetic.

The problem is that it can reach the point with some people people int that they are so obsessed over their own appearance that they become intensely judgmental of the appearance of others as a means to draw attention away from their own flaws and insecurities. It's sad, and its particularly awful when one generation passes those insecurities down to the next with all the issues that body dysmorphia can bring.

I think it comes down to "Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind"

mrsmerryweather · 28/06/2009 14:16

snorbs- so where do you stand on BO and the use of deodorant- are you confident enough to forego it as well?

OP posts:
brightongirldownunder · 28/06/2009 15:14

Yawn......
Life would be so much more fun if we stopped analysing each other. I live in Sydney where perfection is imperative and I've never met so many self-obsessed, miserable women (well apart from the truly lovely Ninedragons).
Now if you really want to moan about something how about this? Dogs crapping in parks. Thats bloody disgusting.
