to want to tell people to cover up their cracked heels and acres of hard yellowing skin?

now that we have all gone tightless and sockless....

it is just revolting when you see a made-up woman then get to her feet and see acres of white/yellow/grey hard skin on her heels.

Have they never heard of footfiles and foot cream?

it must be a full time job to go around judging everyone glad im not like that

Katerina75 · 27/06/2009 20:23

Don't really care about cracked skin or flabbiness and certainly don't have perfect feet myself but I do think it's disgusting when people inflict their yellowing fungusy long toenails on everyone else - ugh.

expatinscotland · 27/06/2009 20:26

'ha ha ...try working in a shoe shop...bits of manky skin everywhere, I never cease to be amazed. I have hideous feet but wouldn't expect someone else to touch them (except dh) ...an elderly lady invited me to "feel her corn" the other day.'

OMG! Pass the bucket! How do you not just retch? I have a weak stomach and an incredible gag reflex as I spent the first 5 months of each of my pregnancies with my head down the pan.

mrsmerryweather · 27/06/2009 20:30

floradora I saw that Giles Coran piece- it was amusing and so true.

I just don't get people who don't care about basic personal grooming- don't you start at the top- with a haircut and a bit of colour if need be; then defuzz your armpits and legs if they are on show, and then tidy up your feet?

It's the least you an do if we all have to look at it all!

katiestar · 27/06/2009 20:34

YABU why should people have to cover up their feet to please you!

Nancy66 · 27/06/2009 20:34

I am a keen runner so i don't have the nicest feet.

however i do have the pert, tight arse of a 12 year old and fabulously toned, cellulite free legs - which i'll take any time over soft soles...

PuzzleRocks · 27/06/2009 20:41

Nancy - Are you suggesting Mrsmerryweather would be so distracted by your arse that she wouldn't notice your hobbit feet?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/06/2009 20:44

Surprised you can see people's cracked heels from way up there in your ivory tower, to be honest.

CurryMaid · 27/06/2009 20:46

I will tell you how I got cracked heels.

Fricking fitflops, that's how.

Never had cracked heels until I bought them this summer.

Mspontipine · 27/06/2009 21:04

Foot-files are fab - I was giving my cracked and yellow heels a makeover for a wedding - I was amazed it only took 2-3 days to get them baby-bottom soft.

What I did see the other day and couldn't get over - a lady with toe nail extensions Eurghhhh! why??!They were that give away blinding white on the end and nowhere near as long as fingernails but waaaaayyyy longer than toe nails should ever be. Bleeeuuugghh !!

cat- unless you keep your eyes firmly ahead, can you honestly say that you never look at the floor or below waist level of anyone in front of you when you are in a queue?

Maybe you never stand in queues.

TheCrackFox · 27/06/2009 21:54

Nail varnish is essential IMO.

Kimi · 27/06/2009 22:04

Why do you think I mumsnet so much?

Can my mum go out? She has one yellow foot they cut the other one off!

LoveBeingAMummy · 27/06/2009 22:05

IkeaSnake · 27/06/2009 22:06

GET RID OF THE YELLOW

mrsmerryweather · 27/06/2009 23:17

so all you lot who don't agree have manky feet then? You're all so blinking defensive, it's the only possible answer.

Jux · 27/06/2009 23:38

It's genetic. I was talking to my mum's chiropodist and she told me (so it must be true!).

The best thing for it is urea which you will find in Flexitol (the highest percentage of urea in the over-the-counter creams). However, it can take some time for the cream to work and it isn't permanent. Flexitol is expensive for a foot cream. Perhaps the women you have been vomiting over are too poor as well being genetically challenged?

I have ALWAYS had this problem and it just gets worse (feet turning into hooves!). Tried on lots of sling backs and thought I'd revolt the world wearing them - so got sandals with backs.

Now, maybe I should go for a long shapeless garment that covers everything else!!!

Lissya · 27/06/2009 23:47

trikerg - two words - Ped Egg!

Seriously, try it, it works like nothing else!
