To think sometimes mumsnet sucks

VeraDuckworthsHandbag · 26/06/2009 10:44

Now I know it is just a bunch of people on the WWW but in the time I have been on here I have been given some great advice, seen others given great advice , and support, and hope and friendship and on the whole I think most people here are decent.
I know everyone is different and everyone has the right to their own point of view but sometimes just sometimes it gets so hypercritical I could scream.

A mumsnetter who's husband is having an affair is joined in the Other woman bashing, but a mums netter who is about to embark on or is having an affair is given support.

A person who has a husband or partner going to jail is given support and of course he is judged innocent

Then there is the great mumsnet get out of jail free card depression.

But when it really becomes quite sick is on days like today when someone in the public eye dies and holier then thou posters start dancing on the grave.

All you people bashing Micheal Jackson today should be ashamed as he was never convicted of anything, there was no proof he had done anything wrong but in true Jade goody style it starts and people show their sick side.
Everyone thinking he was a perv, can you hand on heart say your partner has NEVER looked at something child related on the internet? Now as you all say not my man just think about it, you do not know.

How do you know when a mumsnetter comes on and says their partner /parent what ever has died and we all go so sorry thinking of you, that that dead person was a good person? You don't but you say sorry for the familys loss.

The same people who have a go today will be the ones who say "oh no you can't hang people" the sort that defend pond scum like Sharon Matthews mother because she was "depressed" or stick up for the dirty fat bitch on wifeswap cause "it is sociality to blame that she was too lazy to get her fat arse out of bed and feed her child anythink better then crisp and not hers"

In the rush to be the most PC person on the board you lose sight of the truth, and sometimes the truth is not PC.

If MJ had been married to a mumsnetter the threads today would be so so different, and anyone who thinks not is deluded

I am one of those people, Vera, and I am horrified at your statement. The level of ignorance and insensitivity it displays is staggering.

Until you made your ridiculous statements about all men having looked at something child related on the net, and depression being a get out of jail free card, I could see the merit in what you were saying - but those two statements destroyed any credibility you had.

PM73 · 26/06/2009 12:18

Is this serious??

I know my dh would never look at anything child related on t'internet.

You must live in a very strange place to assume that ALL men look at kiddie porn.

staylucky · 26/06/2009 12:21

Woah...........

mascaraohara · 26/06/2009 12:29

there's so much wrong with the OP I find it impossible to pick out key points..

I've never liked youi posting before and I don't now.. I thought MN were bringin in a policy about regulars namechanging just to cause offence.. and lets face it just because you've not picked out one person individually you will offended many.

And I can hand on my heart say yes I know my bf would never have looked at children on the internet FGS (I'm shocked at the stupidity of the comment in itself).

Good god people like you are complete twats

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 26/06/2009 12:33

I know my husband has never looked at porn of any kind on the internet.
Because he is so hopeless with computers he gets me to clear his internet history for him.
I haven't read the MJ threads and I'm not going to, so I don't know who has been posting the comments you refer to, but I don't believe it is the PC posters as you call them that are usually lining up to light the touch paper. In my time on these boards, the only threads that have ever really saddened me are the MM threads, and the posters who take the holier than thou line on those are certainly not the PC ones. (Whatever PC means.)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/06/2009 12:37

Agree with pm73. The implication that all men are tempted to look at kiddyporn given half a chance is outrageous, your mind must be a scary place.

daftpunk · 26/06/2009 12:38

i was going to post on here, but i can see some of you think the op is me....i think MNHQ are monitoring the MJ threads...they are more than welcome to come on here and confirm that i am not the op.

although it goes against all i believe in...i am going to start reporting all threads that are attacks on me.

Merrylegs · 26/06/2009 12:39

Woah. Talk about pot and kettle. So you're saying lay off Michael Jackson (and I think lots of us are), but it's OK for you have a go at a mother with obvious mental health problems and a woman who was on TV for an hour?

"Everyone thinking he was a perv, can you hand on heart say your partner has NEVER looked at something child related on the internet? Now as you all say not my man just think about it, you do not know."

No words, Vera. No words....

daftpunk · 26/06/2009 12:42

posts..not threads..vera, i don't know who you are, and i'm pretty sure you haven't got a clue who i am..

BitOfFun · 26/06/2009 12:50

I don't think Daftpunk has ever been given to namechanging to post garbage fgs!

harleyd · 26/06/2009 12:50

wow, pitchforks out again for you punky?

expatinscotland · 26/06/2009 12:54

Actually, Vera's been around, just did a search.

I apologise, daftpunk.

Have not been on MJ threads except for stuff like 'yes, he's dead.'

daftpunk · 26/06/2009 12:57

thank you expat.

mascaraohara · 26/06/2009 12:57

Vera has been here for a long(ish) time.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 26/06/2009 13:08

Did sound very much like you DP.

Apologies for that.

Maybe you could sue vera for ripping off your posting style. After all you are quite a one off...

Lulumama · 26/06/2009 13:10

i still stand by what i said

vera is a name changing regular, who uses this name to post all sorts of rubbish or to stir things up

someone who knows that if they posted under their regular name, they would get an ever shorter shrift

lol lovelytinofspam.....i've never heard of her?...i haven't reported any posts...i just can't...not my style, but listen...something you should know about me, i never name change, if i have something to say i will say it as daftpunk...i will take the abuse as daftpunk...i'm not a coward....and...more importantly..

i would never have a name as naff as veraduckworthshandbag! .....i'm a orla kiely girl.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 26/06/2009 13:18

I thought you might have had a wobble after your AIBU the other day...

I stand corrected.

daftpunk · 26/06/2009 13:22

hey listen, i have spent the last 3 days talking to people off board about that thread, it was a mistake and i apologised....there was nothing more i could do?.....i know some people will never forgive me....but alot have.

StealthPolarBear · 26/06/2009 13:28

yes I can hand on my heart say my DH has never looked at child porn on the internet

Tortington · 26/06/2009 13:29

there is a difference between someone famous who puts themselves in the public eye and someone who posts on MN looking for support or advice

its quite a fundamental difference

Tortington · 26/06/2009 13:30

and we should leave off Mj cos our husband and partners 'may' 'might' 'could have' 'might do in the future' look at child porn

what a ridiculous supposition

HolyGuacamole · 26/06/2009 13:30

What a very stupid, dumbass thread!!

I actually think we all have double standards to a certain point on certain subjects, depending on the ins and outs, background information etc etc. So what? We all dither and change our minds. So what?

Your comment about our partners/husbands/boyfriends looking at children is WAY out of line. And yes, not that it matters but I can safely say my DH doesn't partake in that sort of thing. FFS! If I was a man on here, and there are plenty, I'd be extremely offended at your sweeping and thinly veiled suspicion.

And the comment on depression - jesus lady, you need to take a good look around you. Are you deliberately trying to offend?

The comment on children and the comment on depression actually have taken away from what might have otherwise been an interesting topic of debate!

Rhubarb · 26/06/2009 13:32

"Everyone thinking he was a perv, can you hand on heart say your partner has NEVER looked at something child related on the internet? Now as you all say not my man just think about it, you do not know. "

Has yours then? How about you give me your address so I can send the police round to seize your pc.

Stupid, pathetic, ignorant imbecile!

JOG ON...........
