To Think The Occasional Greggs Sausage Roll Aint that Bad?

Posting this because I was shamed out my usual judgeyness yesterday.
I had just been to Greggs and bought a sausage roll. Standing at the bus stop a mum in front me with two kids had also been to Greggs and was rummaging in the bag to give her purchase to the kids.
I thought "I bet they're sausage rolls" because she was telling them they might be hot. They were.
I moved aside to let a buggy pass and saw the wee girl, an absolutely gorgeous blonde thing about 2-3. Her older brother was also tucking in. The wee girl smiled at me. I said "They're nice arent they?"
Then the wee girl held out her sausage roll to me with a huge grin.
DD does this - sharing.
I said "No thats ok look I've got one!"
I was quite touched. I looked at the Mum, who was a wee bit harrassed and saw a Mum trying to give some much needed calories to her kids. She smiled and made an indulgent comment about her DD liking to make a mess.

I felt ashamed TBH. Whats wrong with the occasional sausage roll anyway? Better that than sweets.

Do the hooligans outside Greggs use the sausage rolls to hit old ladies over the head and make off with their 'andbags?

smallorange · 18/06/2009 21:12

I'm sure Scotland is a better place without your presence Victoria.

BTW there is more to being a good parent than not feeding your child sausage rolls. Generosity of spirit, sense of humour and common decency are far more important. And you will find bucket loads of that in Scotland.

Poppity · 18/06/2009 21:13

I'm partial to their giant donuts with chocolate topping and patisserie cream inside. Not one to do things by halves[grins]

Poppity · 18/06/2009 21:15

victoria, how is the view from ^that far up your own arse pedestal?

TeaOneSugar · 18/06/2009 21:19

80 posts about Greggs sausage rolls

As someone said earlier, a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

I'm not sure my dd has ever had a Greggs sausage roll (will have to ask her) and I'm not a fan of kids sitting in pushchairs covered in pastry crumbs - but as an occasional treat, or a meal on the run, fine.

Toddlers drinking fizzy pop makes my teeth stand on end though, lucky for me dd doesn't like anything fizzy.

Thank god for Victoria, I wish I had half the good morals and judgement she does. I think firstly we all need to take a good long at ourselves and then at Victoria, her fine example really demonstrates to us what truly awful people we are.
F**k me I could murder a cheese and onion pastie about now.

scottishmummy · 18/06/2009 21:24

TeaOneSugar · 18/06/2009 21:24

Anyone know how many syns in a Greggs cheese & onion pastie?

I think I have some veggie sausage rolls in the freezer (wanders off to check).

scottishmummy · 18/06/2009 21:25

CrushWithEyeliner · 18/06/2009 21:27

I like the chicken bakes and pizza things but the sausage rolls I don't find that great. We go in there for cakes and other stuff. Really don't get the snobbery about it - it's just a cake shop after all with freshly baked stuff

choufleur · 18/06/2009 21:30

just be careful with steak bake - i used to do crisis PR for greggs and once spent a quite some time writing and reading statements to papers about greggs position over a customer who has got 3rd degree burns from a steak bake

scottishmummy · 18/06/2009 21:31

i genuinely like greggs always smile at chewin the fat beefy bake

TeaOneSugar · 18/06/2009 21:38

How sad am I, I've calculate the syns in a Greggs cheese and onion pasty, it's actually only 15.5, not bad - will get a second opinion before I eat one.

I'm not obsessing about syns,honest.

I'm a bit shocked there's 0 protein in one though - surely there's some in the cheese?

choufleur · 18/06/2009 21:40

what's syns?

Thunderduck · 18/06/2009 21:41
