to think maybe being somebody's sixth wife is not such a great idea?

My lovely dp has asked me to marry him. He's an amazing person, bright, successful (rich) and very cultured. I think we could be very happy together but the skeletons in his closet are giving me pause for thought!

In a nutshell this would be mariage number 6 - it's not as bad as it sounds. He was married for years to wife number 1 then they divorced. He has divorced again - they had nothing in common but also had an apalling run of luck and lost the other wives - very, very sad

Part of me thinks I should just go for it - but another part of me is hesitating and I don't know what to do. I would love to get married and have a big do and settle down to being stepmum to his kids. But then maybe 5 predecessors is just too many?

AIBU?

Now that you are marrying Henry, she might think that you have left the door open for her to make her move on a certain former suitor of yours. Be careful of his intentions.

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:45

I intend to keep a firm grip on the situation - whatever it turns out to be!

Ohhh do by careful, won't you? Though if you're talking about the Thames side pad I think you are, theres a lovely duke of a guy called Tom who might tickle your fancy. Maybe if you introduce him to DSD2 he could point her in the right direction too...

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:46

divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.

Do you want to be added to that list OP. DO YOU? Think carefully. He sounds like a baddun.

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 20:51

yy, leave him, he's a bastard.

do i get five points for being the first to say that?

RustyBear · 16/06/2009 20:58

Aitch - her cousin can't be more than six months old yet - though futuremissus' DP is already thinking of marrying her to his DS...

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 21:06

I said don't mention them! Dp's sister is a right bitch, her son is (or was) very gloomy - right downer honestly and dil is incredibly bossy! She thinks she's running things now alright!

I can't believe you're all trying to put me off! Dp's 'family jewels' are quite something you know - do you really think i'm going to pass up on this?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 21:07

oh well, that won't end badly, then, rb. i'm much comforted.

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 21:07

is that from the joan rivers collection, futuremissus?

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 21:11

i mean, your fiance's stuff is nice but i didn't see a jewelled heart purse charm in there

YeOldeCrystalBall · 16/06/2009 21:14

I am a little worried about your future actually.

Maybe if you do marry him it will be all right but say something does happen and you marry again - if I look into my crystal ball I see you may have problems in childbirth

cocolepew · 16/06/2009 21:15

I'm concerned by how many people on this thread know so many personal details about your future DH. Have you posted about him before? Or do they know him IYSWIM. I don't know anything about the state of my friends' Dh's genitalia. Maybe you should namechange.

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 21:18

You could put somebody's eye out with that thing Aitch!

(As I often say to dp when he's got his codpiece on!)

I know I said not to mention them - but this is all the Scottish mob can muster - no wonder they're jealous eh?

OP posts:
ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 21:18

I'm really sorry OP but he's a slaaaaaag, my friend has had him (loads) back in the days before he got STDs and those hideous boils (what do you do about them BTW, does he make you dress them).

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 21:18

oh he's a right royal slagbag, coco. we've all seen it.

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 21:19

please note the sword handle based upon the female reproductive system, futuremissus. we're learning as we're slayin'.

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 21:20

Yeolde - typical bloody mumsnet! Nobody's ever optimistic round here are they? it's all 'older mothers' - suck breath in through teeth and get gloomy.

Coco - my dp is a king amongst men - I don't know what you are suggesting but whatever it is - you're wrong!

OP posts:
RustyBear · 16/06/2009 21:23

coco - didn't you see her DP's threads on Dadsnet? They went into all sorts of details..

Of course they've been deleted now because of personal attacks on his last wife - he accused her of having an affair with one of his employees - she turned out to be a mumsnetter & she reported him.

I haven't seen her on MN for a while come to think of it - hope she's OK, she seemed like a nice young thing....

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 21:27

Whaaaaaaat! Dp is on mumsnet too?

I thought you all seemed to know a bit too much but he is a very prominent man and I know how things get round.

Guess I'd better sort my situation out away from the web then

Thanks ladies - it's been fun (and educational)

OP posts:
cocolepew · 16/06/2009 21:28

Well, I haven't seen it, and now it won't be worth looking at . Slags the lot of you.

giraffesCantRunA10k · 16/06/2009 21:29

Haha at the "I dont want to lose my head and rush in" bit. Very good

FlappyTheBat · 16/06/2009 21:34

HFM6, "us scottish mob" might not have much in the way of jewels but we have always got islands and our friends the French, we can escape to when you English start throwing your weight around
