to think maybe being somebody's sixth wife is not such a great idea?

My lovely dp has asked me to marry him. He's an amazing person, bright, successful (rich) and very cultured. I think we could be very happy together but the skeletons in his closet are giving me pause for thought!

In a nutshell this would be mariage number 6 - it's not as bad as it sounds. He was married for years to wife number 1 then they divorced. He has divorced again - they had nothing in common but also had an apalling run of luck and lost the other wives - very, very sad

Part of me thinks I should just go for it - but another part of me is hesitating and I don't know what to do. I would love to get married and have a big do and settle down to being stepmum to his kids. But then maybe 5 predecessors is just too many?

AIBU?

do you know joss stone?

flamingobingo · 16/06/2009 20:27

Haven't you mentioned on MN somewhere about the number of hubbies you've had? Is it two already?

Pot - kettle - black me thinks

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:28

Aitch - do you know my future dsd1 as well? Or my dp's wife number 1 - she was quite depressing and humourless - never a joke to be heard- apart from when she tried to convince dp that she hadn't had it away with his older brother! Talk about having a laugh! Yes I am serious - it's right out of Jezza Kyle isn't it?

Maybe those that are hiding the thread do not like to read about a young, educated women who obviously has a lot of influence on her future husband.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2009 20:29

Ah sorry hfm

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:31

You need to make sure he has an STD check before you wed.

I hear he's riddle with syphilis.

squeaver · 16/06/2009 20:31

I'd be more worried about your dp's health. Bit hefty round the middle isn't he?? Bit too much over-zealous rumpy pumpy and he could be a goner...

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:31

riddled! Riddled with syphilis FGS! I need an edit function.

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:32

Yes I am a bit worried about that

Maybe it's all just a cruel rumour?

I suppose I shouldn't let my heart reign over my head?

although that could be a good thing, squeaver. sex him until he pops, futuremissus.

and i know she's off the scene now but really, wot a TRAMP that anne of c is!

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:34

It's not a rumour I'm afraid, Catherine of A gave it to him.

Infact I'm pretty sure it will finish him off.

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 20:36

dirty bitch.

AitchTwoOh · 16/06/2009 20:36

you could always wear a pigskin condom?

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:37

Aitch - I know you mean well but I'm not going to start plotting! He is a touch paranoid - after all his other wives have put him through it's hardly surprising and I don't think we need to put our relationship to the sword!

OP posts:
FlappyTheBat · 16/06/2009 20:37

I wouldn't worry about it HFM6.

He probably isn't able to perform and if he does die soon after you marry him, that will leave you free to marry the one you truly love.

sassy · 16/06/2009 20:38

I'd be concerned about the stepkids, tbh. It isn't an easy relationship at the best of times, let alone when the mothers have met unusual ends. The little one will be ok - though I would watch that cough - but the girls. Hmm. Is it really worth it?

(The middle one seems a bit precocious to me. Do you want that in your home, flaunting itself at your household all the time?)

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:38

Have you actually had sex with him?

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:38

Pigskin condom??

Tis not natural!

Are you sure you are not thinking of marriage on the rebound? I've heard tales about a certain gentleman by the name of Seymour. You need to be married that your hubby to be is the jealous type and I'm not sure he has told you the full story of what happened with wives number two and five.

FlappyTheBat · 16/06/2009 20:41

They (stepkids) probably only need some education, especially the girls.
I do agree that Elizabeth could do with a careful eye being kept on her, from the sounds of it, she fancies being queen herself one day!

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:41

Phantom - you surely don't expect me to answer that! History life must have some mystery!

I am a bit worried about dsd2 actually - she's an odd thing - alwasy throwing her weight around and making calculated decisions. Very bright but scary - it's hard to imagine her ever finding a man to measure up to her needs.

i just wish she'd be nicer to her cousin... [scottish]

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:43

Its just that Catherine Parr was always complaining about his erectile problems you see.

hisfuturemissus6 · 16/06/2009 20:43

Oh don't get me started on that side of the family!
