To desire a part time job to fit around my children???

I left work after my second child who now 6 months old. I had the romantic notion of being a content stay at home mum. The thing is I am content occassionally, but miss work desperately and the money. Can someone advise if there are any part time jobs out there and if so where I can look to find them. I feel desperate and lost....

What did you do before? Do you belong to any professional associations for networking purposes? Do you take any work related journals where jobs are advertised?

I've always worked p/t (well, for 17 years) and generally apply for f/t posts, then at the interview, if I think I'll be offered the job, ask if I can work p/t and have always been lucky enough to persuade them.

Don't just look for part time jobs is my advice.

No YANBU. I have managed to work part-time ever since DD was born nearly 11 years ago, gradually increasing my hours to almost full-time now that eldest is due to start secondary school.

There are a few things to think about though - like childcare, travel, how will you organise time off etc. But these are not insurmountable problems, we all manage somehow.

Try looking on the internet first, to get an idea of what is about - fish 4 jobs is a good a place as any to start.

Or what about self-employment/party plan - Pampered Chef, Phoenix, Usborne, Barefoot Books, Virgin Vie, pottery parties, that kind of thing. Has the advantage of being a good way to meet new people. Easier to fit around home life, but you do have to be quite well motivated and you will have to put some money in to get you started.
