A group of mums are going, I'm sure it will be a good laugh but I'm feeling a bit weird ogling young guys young enough to be my son.

AIBU

I am a regular, but have namechanged.

I hate all that, it makes my skin crawl, whatever age they are so no YANBU

bleh · 12/06/2009 14:37

YANBU. It can be very cringeworthy

IDidntRaiseAThief · 12/06/2009 14:42

no
yanbu!!

i hated going to see one of those shows when I was about 22!! all that screaming, I left with a headache
I knew some women who were mad on the Dreamboys, I could NOT understand it. They loved them and spent so much effort/money going to see them, trying to get backstage for a snog, when most of them were gay anyway!!

slightlyonedgemum · 12/06/2009 14:48

How is it not demeaning and cringeworthy?!

You are totally NBU and I'd be slightly worried if my mates wanted to go....

SouthMum · 12/06/2009 15:43

YANBU - I know someone who went to a strip thing and one of the guys dipped his tackle into her G&T

Don't think she drank it after that, must have tasted hairy funny

It's a bit common...

passionberry · 12/06/2009 15:56

Eew. I agree BitOfFun.

middleagedmamma · 12/06/2009 16:52

Just looked on Youtube and they are more of a dance troupe that sing and no full nudity so feel slightly better about going. I can't believe it was £32 a ticket. I soppose it is a night out.

They are a lovely bunch of ladies though we only have children in common, none of my friends before children would be interested.

middleagedmamma · 12/06/2009 17:16

YANBU. I have a close friend who loves that kind of stuff. She tried to arrange the adonis cabaret for a mate's hen but thankfully it was booked - £40 for watching strippers - ugh. Her new favourite place is a bar where you can do shots from semi naked men, including licking sugar from their chest and sucking fruit from their mouth. You can also pay to lick whipped cream off them or pay to dance on the bar with semi naked women. She insists I will love it. Fuck that.

mrsruffallo · 12/06/2009 19:41

YANBU
Makes me feel queasy

deaconblue · 12/06/2009 20:06

there is no way I would go to anything like this - sexist nonsense. I warned my friends that should a stripper turn up at my hen do I would be going home immediately. don't you find other women turn into a gaggle of lowest common denominators at this sort of thing too?

kat, where's that bar? Just out of interest.

Dittany, if only I was 24. I think this sort of thing was popular when I was 24 which was quite a while back.

The thought of it makes my skin creep. I did see the dreamboats or whatever they were called 20 years ago when it was all the rage, but I spent most of the time in the toilets bored out of my life. These men are more in love with themselves than you could ever be. Give me a real man any time.

fiee · 12/06/2009 20:44

Not at all unreasonable, I would sit near the back or the bar!! Your probably not looking that forward to the night out but those are often the best nights!!!

middleagedmamma · 12/06/2009 20:53

Well I found this article here

Apparantly they are not strippers but are a male dance troupe.

See I am old because they were always known as strippers in my day.

At least its at the Opera House and not some pokey club.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 13/06/2009 07:57

it's in brighton.

QOD · 13/06/2009 08:08

OMG!
Guess what?
One of them is a DAD from my dd's school
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm hubba hubba - I get to see him a few times a week for free

poshtottie · 13/06/2009 08:22

QOD, is that without his kit on though.

I can't believe one of them is a Lord. The ones I have come across have been crusty old men.

QOD · 13/06/2009 11:41

sadly he wears clobber, its so funny, before a friend spotted him in the paper, we KNEW he was a model or something, his poise & level of primpness
