To wish DP was not ginger

It is a lovely day and I am in the garden, lap top glass of wine, he is hiding inside as he "burns".

No really I do feel sorry for him because even with factor 60 he burns, heat makes him feel ill and he has no fun, but it would have been nice to go out today or even be in the same space.....

oh well at least he is clever and sexy can't have everything I guess

Almost spat my coffee out there I thought you meant because he's ginger per se not because of the sun Can't he sit in the shade? You sure he's not avoiding you? Making an excuse so he can play on the x-box?

I have total sypathy for your dp I am pale loads of freckles and although not totally ginger dark haired can see the red in the sun and everyone was commenting the other day on me having the sun and when I got undressed at night I had red shoulders and chest and the only time I had left the house that day was the walk to school less than 5 minutes wach way.

I get so frustrated at times that I have to hide from the sun when I wish I could be running about with the dc's

I was shocked by your title (I have a ginger dp too) but then I read your post and I understand.

Yesterday we were on our way to a bbq, dp was being bad tempered, I said what's the matter with you he said
"I haven't got a hat or glasses"
"Why haven't you? Surely you had some last summer and all the previous years?"
I haven't brought a hat or glasses for a few years actually"
"well why don't you go and get some"
"when do I get time, you go shopping and I have the dd's so when do I get chance?"
"so do you want me to get you some next time I go shopping?"
"no"
"well why don't you go to town tomorrow and get some?"
"no I don't want to go shopping"
"so you are complaining you don't have any, but you don't want me to buy them for you and you won't go yourself?"
"sorry I'm just hot and bothered"

We used to have this converstaion regularly but now he's finally learnt his lesson..

"have you put cream on?"
"no I'm ok"
"I really think you should"
"I'm not a child"

later....
"I'm so burnt"
"well I did mention about putting cream on."

We're going abroad this year for our honeymoon and I really hope he doesn't moan too much or get burnt tbh.

To be fair to him today he has been outside sorting the garden/ shed etc and hasn't moaned yet but he does really hate the sun.

I'm not a red-head, but am very very pale and don't cope at all well in this weather. Given my own way, I'd stay indoors between April and October, but don't think ds's would enjoy that!
I would however get a hat ande sit outside with dp if we had a garden, but we don't. Shame

Lol Lovemygirls.
In all fairness (no pun intended) he is upgrading DS1s pc, but I do feel soory for him in the heat as he really does suffer, gets hay fever too

can't you have some shade out there and a cold footbath with ice cubes in it for him? Bring him outside, go on now. Make some fresh lemonade, don't let him hide in the cave all day.

get yourselves a gazebo! my little boy is ginger {take a look at my profile, they dont come much more ginger then that }
i smother him in suncream and we get ourselves outside.
the pop up gazebos are the best, you put them up single handedly.

Oh we have shade, but he is sitting inside as he will sneeze if he comes out. I an sat under the garden umbrella in the shade with a glass of wine and my lunch....might try bribing him out with a nice cold beer

Yes, gazebos are the way foward. DH is 'titian' (MIL insists!) and both dss are blondies and I just burn.

We have a mahoosive gazebo that fills most of the garden then we all get out there in the morning then again late afternoon and most of the evening. Get him a little paddling pool (or a bucket) and fill with cool water, DH steps into and out of his every so often to keep himself cool otherwise he wilts.

Hehe Kimi for a moment I was worried my DH was cheating: Ginger, clever and sexy..... that's my DH!

We went to Thailand recently and it was a nightmare cue comedy moments of DH trying to hop from shadespot to shadespot. He still got burnt. He even got burnt yday when we were walking about and I had tried to cover him up a bit and he told me not to worry about it.

Giant umbrellas are the only thing! DH will happily walk round with one in the sun (well he did in Thailand- not sure if he would over here!)

Dp was hopping in to the shade spots in Venice last year....goes to check he is still inside and not off with his other family

I am not ginger but I have very pale skin and alot of frickles
I ma melting in this heat
I dont want to do anything and my head is sore and heavy
I like it when its about 17 or 18 degrees with no wind
thats perfect for me

I've been and brought him a hat, he is happier.....couldn't find glasses though but I'm sure we have some somewhere I know he has brought them, I think he must break them......

Phew it is too hot. Am 35 weeks pg as well which is not helping. I feel like lying on the ground.

Plus I'm another fair person - so really have to hide indoors peeking out nervously into the sunshine.

I can't be arsed to put cream on, it's all sticky and horrible. I sat outside but the bloody sun kept moving so my arm or whatever wasn't entirely in the shade any more.

I give up.

LOL - it's such a man thing isn't it? I have a fair DH, and he does this macho thing of not putting cream on. Which results in a lobster-skinned DH by lunchtime, followed by much agonised whingeing for the rest of the day.

I've just been round to a friends new house where they were keen to show off their lovely new garden and matching furniture. Alas they have no parsol thing yet and there was no appreciable shade in the garden so all I could think off was-- "crapola I'm going to frazzle"

I'm now back at my house mooching in the shade and am so much happier.

Pale burny skin sucks.

I could fry in a cupboard in the winter. I get a nasty sun rash too, which is thick and itchy. GP gave me cream for it and I wear Factor 50. And I STILL burn!

This only started after I had dc1 - skin was ok before but pregnancy completely changed it. Weird.

Sorry for your DH ... join him iside sometimes, do!

E45 sunscreen is the only one dd's eczema does not react to - Riven have you tried that one?

I used to enjoy being out in the sun when younger, but now have a headache/hung over feeling from sitting out in someones garden.

My Dh and DS1+2 are all ginger (or african sunset as my DH likes to say) and they can't go out in the sun without being smeared in factor 60 suncream. Although, my DH is very much like lovemygirls's DH and refuses to put it on, but then complains when he is burnt to a crisp.

You have my deepest sympathies

My DH is ginger and loves the sun. He just puts on suncream and his hat and glasses. My MIL though always moans at him to stay inside.

YANBU. I am very grateful that I don't burn easily, and I love being out in the sun. My brother and mum are darker than me, mum is often asked if she has Italian blood.

DP is the darkest of this siblings, a completely different colour to me (he is pinky, I am yellowy), but nearly as dark, so I'm really hoping we won't have sun-sensitive children.

DP is lying in bed, all hot and sniffy and feeling really poorly and sorry for himself
