AIBU to want to sleep in the spare room, or preferably outside?

It's so hot tonight and the last thing I want to do is to sleep beside dp, if only because an extra body in bed means extra heat.

Would it be so bad to sneak into the spare room? He's sleeping at the moment so I can explain in the morning.

Sleep on the sofa. It's normally cooler downstairs as hot air rises. Then you cn say you fell asleep in front of the TV.

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 00:55

I'm in the living room at the moment. And I'm sticking to the sofa. It's too hot down here too.
This house likes to retain every little bit of heat that it can.

Oh dear. You know it helps if you keep the curtains closed during the day and open the windows. Sleep where it is the coolest and wake up early if you can. He'd never notice.

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 01:00

The windows have been open all day. I hate this house and it hates me. I think it knows how much I hate heat.

I don't think he'll be too offended though he will wonder why I've chosen not to sleep next to him, until I can explain.

I'm seriously considering going outside and soaking myself with the hose.

I'm planning to sleep on the sofa as dh is 1)hot and 2) snoring like a train ............

Bl*y husbands, You think they'd be more considerate!

We dont have a spare room so can't go there, and thought about sliding in with dd1 (she has a double bed) but she's really hot too!

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 01:04

You have my permission to go in there and repeatedly prod him with a sharp pointy object.

DP told me that it's supposed to be even hotter in Glasgow tomorrow, which is not what I wanted to hear.

wet a single sheet or a.. (one of those things you wear around you when you have togs on....!), just dampened, and put it over you. Cools you down enough to get to sleep.

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 01:45

Thankyou. I'll try that. I'm in the spare room now and it's no cooler in here.

... sarong, that's what I was looking for! It really does work. Have lived in 50C heat, and used to do that all the time. Hope you have a good sleep.

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 01:51

50C heat! Omg I'd never last a day there.

Off to soak a sheet now thankyou.

im seriously jealous of your heatwave

we just had sun, not so much heat

Mumofagun · 30/05/2009 02:05

Thunderduck, so I hear, are we all invited for a Barbecue?

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 02:12

Only if dp cooks. The last thing I'd care to do right now is stand over a heat source and cook.

harleyd · 30/05/2009 02:17

Thunderduck · 30/05/2009 02:18

No YANBU. I am cooking here, but have to stay within sight of DD as she's having chicken pox and I am trying to get her not to scratch. At least you could get some sleep!
