My daughter dances which invloves four lessons a week and competitions every other weekend. It is a time consuming and expensive hobby but one we enjoy.

her partner turns up for lessons infrequently and will only go to comps if i take her (one of which 300 miles away). Whenever I question her committment she comes every lesson for a few weeks and then only comes when it suits her.

I take her to comps so that my daughter can dance but to be honest it is getting on my nerves a bit now, no offer of petrol money plus she never has any of the bits they need so i end up providing them too.

Am i in the wrong to feel hard done by, I am too much of a coward to talk to the mum about it (as is dd) in case she gives up dancing and we have the dreaded partner change ( new costumes, new routines etc).

Thanks for letting me moan, now wait for you to tell me to get my act together.

Speak to the teacher - they might not be aware that you are getting uptight about things, there may be a partner waiting in the wings, ready

Good luck

I think you need a partner with the same amount of committment as your dd, or the problem is not going to go away. If she's this lukewarm about it now, I don't see it getting any better as she gets older. I can see that changing partners must be a hassle, but I think it's going to have to happen at some stage if this other girl doesn't really have the interest. Speak to the teacher and see if they have any suggestions - surely you'd be better off biting the bullet and getting started with a new partner rather than dragging on with one who isn't putting the work in?
