Depite our number being on the call blocking list Sky tv still manage to get through to us.They have rung on 3 seperate occasions asking us to take out a cover plan in case our sky system breaks down.

Each time we have told them thanks but no thanks & please feck off stop ringing us as our number is on no call list.

Then last night, about 8.45 they rung again ,i just turned the phone off on them but i am so bloody annoyed with them for not listening to us.

of course YANBU - no-one wants that. The way these things work is they sell your details on to other people and you get ranked according to your credentials - if you've every answered the 'survey' before, ever said yes to anything, own your property, etc etc, you are ranked higher as being worth calling as you are more likely to respond. If you start telling them that you rent the place, or are unemployed, never buy over the phone, or something like that, they might strike you off their list as a non-mover and stop selling your details on. My Dh sometimes entertains these calls on his mobile and they just keep calling him - I, on the other hand, always so no, i dont buy anything over the phone, etc etc and they hardly ever call me. So I think it works...

There is a national 'list' you can sign up to I think that blocks junk mail and calls, but how effective it is I don't know. I suppose there is only so much they can do to stop these people getting your number.

Are you on the Telephone Preference Service? I am and now if anyone rings I say "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we're on the telephone preference service and... and they hang up!

We always get some guy calling asking for the same woman, I tell him no-one lives here by that name, then he goes onto trying to sell me whatever he was going to sell her! Does my head in! I either hang up or just say that i'm not talking to him as i'm not the person he asked for.

YANBU but sky are being a bit sneaky as they wouldn't technically be classed as a random sales call that these blockers and lists are supposed to stop. You are a sky customer so they are calling about exhisting servces they provide so are getting around it that way because they have a certain right to contact you with regards to the service you buy from them. I would call Sky themelves and have it put on record that you do not wish sales calls from them at all, although if you do occasionally like taking up offers from them you might miss on them too.

BexieID I get that too! I get loads of different companies though so I think she might have had our telephone number before we had it.

I do feel mean being rude and hanging up as these people must get it all the time and it's their employers' fault, not theirs.
