Scoff all you like! The next time you bite into your battery hen, I want you to remember THIS

MillyR · 28/05/2009 12:45

VT is right. Booths is wonderful. Has anyone got a spare Booths cave art eco bag? I really want one and I can only manage to get the hedgehog one from my nearest Booths.

BitOfFun · 28/05/2009 12:48

What is this Booths of which you speak?

MillyR · 28/05/2009 12:50

It is only in the North. You can google it. There isn't one near me, as I am in the wrong bit of the North. Perhaps I should move to a better shopping area.

tribpot · 28/05/2009 12:59

Is Booths a chain?? I thought it was only in "too posh for Waitrose" Ilkley ..

LissyGlitter · 28/05/2009 13:04

Yeah, in fact I believe it started in my beloved Preston

Oh no, it's just occurred to me, I'm about to move to Newcastle...do Booths exist there???

QS · 28/05/2009 13:06

No no no, you go about it all wrong.

If you are not able to grow your own cows and chicken you should not eat.

MillyR · 28/05/2009 13:08

There are only 27 Booths. If you move to Newcastle you will have to drive to Keswick to shop.

I am 22 miles from my nearest Booths.

LissyGlitter · 28/05/2009 13:10

MillyR Oh no! I shall have to stock up on posh food when i come visiting in Preston then! They have a shit market in newcastle too, bloody geordies, they'd be happy eating coal spread on a bloody stottie cake!

I am from Geordieland originally and I love a stottie. When pregnant I also liked coal.

It is difficult to know which is better, stotties or Booths.

Either way, I am missing out.

SomeGuy · 28/05/2009 14:12

M&S is crap. Too many ready meals.

Thunderduck · 28/05/2009 14:16

M&S are not crap. They sell the food of the gods,Percy Pigs.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 14:24

Stottie with ham 'n' pease pudding please.

@ 'bloody geordies, they'd be happy eating coal spread on a bloody stottie cake!'

LissyGlitter · 28/05/2009 14:27

stotties may be nice, but they hardly compare to Lancashire hotpot or butter pies do they? And Broon ale sends me insane! (plus I am pregnant so daren't even sniff a bottle in case my child comes out looking like a Viz character)

I love Newcastle really!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 15:15

Lissy

It could be worse. Here on Teesside we have the Parmo. www.bbc.co.uk/tees/content/articles/2005/09/09/parmo_feature.shtml

As hideous as they look and sound

Haribosmummy · 28/05/2009 15:18

I can't believe you don't all have chefs at home who cook delicious nutricious meals from the produce of your garden. I know I do.

Seriously, though... Percy pigs!!! who could live without them!!!

HM - From Monkeyhanging land and loves a stottie!!

poshtottie · 28/05/2009 15:45

Grumpy, I see Teesside is getting quite cosmopoliton since I left.

stickylittlefingers · 28/05/2009 15:57

Darling - one would only shop in Fenwicks Food Hall in Newcastle...

Actually, I love the quiches [hypocritical grin]

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 16:27

lol @ Teesside being 'quite cosmopolitan'

karala · 28/05/2009 16:41

But QS my fussy children won't eat the cows or the sheep that I've had the estate manager rear raised with the finest breast milk. Will I be making a rod for my own back by raising guinea fowl for them?

karala · 28/05/2009 16:42

bloody temps who can't follow instructions. She's sacked.

QS · 28/05/2009 16:48

Karala, you can never go wrong with Quail. Most children love quail eggs. Having said that, wild boar or guinea fowl, are good options too....

CheerfulYank · 28/05/2009 16:52

Pff, pff. MY son eats nothing but organic vegetables and fruit -from our backyard gardens and orchards, which our dear gardener grows on mulch he's composted himself- and brown rice from our own paddy.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 16:55

cheerfulyank - would the 'Paddy' be your Irish 'dear gardener'?
