You could try quotes for seperate legs of the journey. Don't know if it will work for you but it has for me in the past.

Mousey84 · 27/05/2009 21:53

Nooo. I will not be beaten. 2 mins - Im onto something!

feedthegoat · 27/05/2009 21:55

Didn't know if that post would make sence when read it back! One example we did for Doncaster to Derby was to buy tickets Doncaster to Sheffield, Sheffield to Chesterfield, Chesterfield to Derby. Saved about 25% at the time.

Mousey84 · 27/05/2009 21:59

Sometimes Im glad theres a monopoly on the trains here.

Im sooo frustrated and its not even my money.

Ok, cheapest Ive found (without splitting tickets) was £65 for an anytime return.

LissyGlitter · 27/05/2009 22:13

mousey brill! I do a lot of travelling between Newcastle and Preston, and will try those tips! I was beginning to despair and think i would have to learn to drive!

Mousey84 · 27/05/2009 22:16

Lissy - If you do, might be worth getting an electron card as a lot of the sites charge more for using a cc (booking fee thing)

Was on the trainline site! But now Im wondering if it was a longer journey as re-read your post and saw the 1 h 28 mins. Hang on, Ill go check again.

BTW, Ive never split tickets, so I dont know, but I cant see how they will know if you got off / on.

Mousey84 · 27/05/2009 22:43

Aw, Im really sorry. Was not helpful afterall - that journey was 2 hr 27 mins with london midland. Will that be too late to arrive?

If its training for work, wont you be reimbursed anyway?
