He should
a) have some clothes I like
b) if he has clothes I like at least have the decency to have them in my size?

WinkyWinkola · 27/05/2009 20:52

And without holes in. I spent £89 on a cardigan from Boden and it came with a button hanging off and a hole in the shoulder.

Lara2 · 27/05/2009 20:54

And not so bloody expensive!!!!!

chunkalulu · 27/05/2009 22:28

To be fair to dear old Boden their generous sizing saved my sanity after DS2 when I almost wept with joy at squeezing my bulk into a (roomy)size 14.
Surely they are performing an important role as post-pregnancy sanity saver which means price is worth it?
However, now body has recovered, think majority of their clothes horrid and prints simply hideous!! (wicked and ungrateful cackle)

fourkids · 27/05/2009 22:31

But they used to make stuff that was different and therefore a bit funky...now Johnnie B seems to think I should want to look like my mother!

fourkids · 27/05/2009 22:34

I was desperate to use discount and I do like their kids stuff, but wanted something for me. And was actually quite taken with a pretty, lightweight-looking crinkly brown linen dress. I was very excited when the parcel arrived this morning - but opened it to find they'd obviously accidently packed me up an old horse feed sack instead

TheYearOfTheCat · 27/05/2009 22:42

I don't own a single item of Boden - but it has saved my sanity.

When my DH / kids are doing my head in, I lock myself in the loo and read the Boden catalogue. I love looking at all the pretty, happy, well dressed models (who I imagine are yummy mummies - surely no-one but mummies wear Boden?). Eventually all the positive imagery helps me to feel that all is right with the world, and it is ok to come out of the loo again.

It is my secret, guilty pleasure.

massivepants · 27/05/2009 22:46

I really want to stuff Mr Boden into my e mail junk box, but can't bring myself to do it? Do you think I need help? I do know a friend who posted all the catalogues back to him.............the last things I bought (white linen coat with bow) looks like it could have come from Tescos.

MrsMcCluskey · 27/05/2009 22:50

LOL @ cat in the toilet!
YEs massive they send far too many catalogues

OP posts:
midlandsmumof4 · 27/05/2009 23:06

Thankfully, have never heard of them (er him apparently .. Anyone who spends £89 quid on a cardi must have more money than sense imho. Maybe the hole was a designer hole. Sorry WinkyW.

MrsMcCluskey · 27/05/2009 23:12

am going to email him and ask him to stop harrassing me I think.
Unless he can provide me with the very last silver satchel.

WinkyWinkola · 28/05/2009 08:41

Twas a very nice cardigan.

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/05/2009 08:56

I had a credit and couldn't find a thing I liked.
Finally bit the bullet and got a stripey T-shirt.

LucilleMum2OscarandLydia · 28/05/2009 08:59

i went to one of their discount jumble sales - very good! i never buy anything unless it is in the sale.

Lizzylou · 28/05/2009 09:02

Cat! I do that too!
Have a few Boden items (sales purchases only) but do like to escape into Johnnie world when a bit stressed.

newpup · 28/05/2009 09:06

I do love mini boden. My DDs have quite a bit of it BUT always bought in the sale or at one of their town hall sale things.

Full price it is so expensive and lately I have noticed that the quality of material is not as good as it used to be. Mr Boden is cutting corners somewhere!

They must be feeling the pinch as for the last 2 weeks I have had 5 e-mails offering 10% off, 20% off, free postage, £10 off if I spent over £70 etc.

Sorry Mr B I want a better offer to get me spending! The sale prices mean the clothes are reasonable and generally speaking the quality is good. DD2 wears things DD1 had and they still look new. But if the material quality this year is anything to go on, they will not wear as well.

I also get really mad that the customers in the U.S. get first pick of the sale items at a lower cost and here in the U.K. we get the leftovers. Really irritates me - please remember where you started it all Mr Boden!!

Rant over

MrsMcCluskey · 28/05/2009 09:11

didnt know that newpup - not good is it?

bella39 · 28/05/2009 09:15

I don't buy anywhere near as much as I used to. Quality has definitely declined, and the women's things are just hideous. In fact, I have given up the game of trying to spot which pattern is the least nauseating.

It is an easy option if you are too lazy to actually go to the shops and buy something you like (I speak from much experience here).

If in doubt, wave the catalogue under dh's nose - I have yet to find a single thing he likes

newpup · 28/05/2009 09:24

Waves at Bella

Just noticed that you have aged 10 years!!!

wahwahwah · 28/05/2009 09:29

I have found their customer services deparement very good and get back to you quickly. Call them if you have a problem. I got a fab shirt there in the sale - it cost £14.50!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ilovemydogandmrobama · 28/05/2009 09:31

Hate Boden clothes...

But quite love the lifestyle -- lots of beaches, happy people, cute kids...

Fine for about 5 minutes, and then think I prefer my non catalogue life

cazzybabs · 28/05/2009 09:37

I think the quality's gone downhill, but I do quite like the children's stuff...most of the adult stuff has some really weird prints.

hippipotamiHasLost29Pounds · 28/05/2009 09:48

I used to love the children's stuff and buy lots of it for years, but recently it all looks a bit 'bleh' and the quality is pants too.
Plus the fact that I am hacked off with the US getting their sale before us - so I have been posting all his catalogues back to him and have unsubscribed from his e-mails.

Incidentally, went to Debenhams yesterday adn bought dd a gorgeous Tigerlily fowery summer dress for £12 - nicer fabric / pattern than boden, better quality than boden, much cheaper than boden.
Am now officialy a boden-free zone!

hippipotamiHasLost29Pounds · 28/05/2009 09:49

flowery!

bella39 · 28/05/2009 11:51

...and the shoes don't fit. And they are very poor quality. I bought a pair of ankle boots last year and they fell apart. As did my 'rainy day jacket' - although they were very nice about refunding that.

Their USP used to be good quality bright cheery clothes. Now they are poor quality hideous clothes. And very expensive for what you get.

There you are, Johnny. We have done your market research for you so now you know why you have to keep offering bigger and bigger discounts to get us to buy.

as a token of appreciation you could send us something, but please not this:
here

Fairynufff · 29/05/2009 23:14

I'm still yet to spot someone who actually wears all that twee stuff with the miss-matching patterns and vile primary coloured massive polka dots. Seriously, WHO THE HELL wears that? My golden rule is that if it looks shit on the model it's not going to be any better in RL!

Always a sucker for 20% off and catalogues in general but haven't bought anything from the Women's section - ever!
