I couldn't have put it better myself! But how do I explain to nanny that her wonderful granddaughter hates the start rite shoes?

And also persuade daft auntie to buy another pair in September??

lambanana · 27/05/2009 21:55

FGS they are shoes.

Not really worth getting your knickers in a twist about them.

If you don't like them don't buy them.

Paolosgirl · 27/05/2009 21:57

Really? Now that's where I've been going wrong. I look at them, I hate them, and then I buy them. I didn't think of hating them and NOT buying them.

Guadalupe · 27/05/2009 21:57

Lolol at unicorn vomit. I am definitely going to use that.

They are pretty hideous but when I see them on little girls I wonder if the mum is actually nice than me for letting them have the sparkly stuff whereas dd gets her red t-bars.

I gave in to pink boots with a purple fluffy trim once and that was bad enough. Made me wince every day.

LucilleMum2OscarandLydia · 27/05/2009 22:00

were are they advertised i have never heard of these shoes outside of mumsnet.

loving unicorn vomit!

Guadalupe · 27/05/2009 22:09

God, the advert is on ALL the time. Really screechy grating girls voices singing with what sounds like their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth about how they are the cutest shoe and the one for you or something

TeaOneSugar · 27/05/2009 22:22

My DD gets very annoyed when I sing along to the advert and call them "smelly Kellies..."

She has actually had a couple of pairs, bought by my mil (she had three boys and loves to buy pink sparkly girls things).

They are actually well made and hard wearing, if a bit too "jazzy" for my taste.

snice · 27/05/2009 22:28

OMG they do slingback wedges for kids as well

Heated · 27/05/2009 22:29

I actually don't think the shoes look too bad but I detest the way they are marketed in all their fluffy pinkness. Any shoes that come with make-up as a gimmick are to be avoided.

dreamylady · 27/05/2009 22:49

golgi congrats on your stereotype defying ds. think everyone else too tired to notice
if only our dd was similar (think she's rebelling against our militant anti pink stance)

LucilleMum2OscarandLydia · 28/05/2009 08:46

omg @ the 'fashion shoes' i didn't realise junior crack whore chic could be so expensive.

why do i never see the adverts?

messymissy · 28/05/2009 08:56

Oh how i loath and despise that advert - saying how lovely and nice the 6 year olds will be with lip gloss, eye shadow and blusher. awful awful awful message to send to young girls.

Stick to cbeebies no awful adverts!

I think the shoes are fun and I can see why little girls like them, but the way they are advertised puts me right off. I think its simply horrendous.

And the price - 30 to 40 pounds!! woah!!

hockeypuck · 28/05/2009 09:01

utterly utterly foul!

You are all so right, Junior crack whore combined with unicorn vomit - tasteful!

DD has always pestered me for these. I actually think their scatterbullet approach of advertising at children is more reproachful than the actual shoes - that takes some doing! They are literally advertising in every single channel 5 Milkshake advert at the moment - I counted 5 times in less than an hour. I told DD about what they were doing and what overpriced tat they were and how they were using little girls 'pester power' to get to their parents. She has now been suitable brainwashed in reverse now by me and says "I do not like even the pretty Lelli Kellys now because they make you want them all the time and it's just silly". Good old brainwashing

pigleto · 28/05/2009 09:18

I think they are lovely. I am a bit of a magpie and I like sparkles. They are too expensive for me though.

oldraver · 28/05/2009 09:41

DRINKMORETEA.......DS2 wants some

crockydoodle · 28/05/2009 10:01

I don't object to the shoes, just the price. My 4yo dd keeps asking for some as friends at playgroup have them but no chance of me spending 40 quid when i have 3 ds to buy for too.
One mum at playgroup has an 18 month dd wearing lks. She told me the child wouldn't leave the shop without them? .
Am I missing something. At that age you can pick them up and carry them out of the shop.
Easy

crockydoodle · 28/05/2009 10:03

The child not the shoes. I don't mean you should shoplift

cthea · 28/05/2009 10:08

I don't like them either. But my DD1 (4) does and she'd love a pair. I try and steer her towards brown leather Birkenstocks but she's having none of it.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 28/05/2009 10:15

Ex bought a pair for dd last year she loved them. She would like a pair this year but is not as desperate now she has had some already.

Secong (third??) what others have said they are totally hideous and the suqins and beads did fall off in places but most lasted and they were surprisingy hard wearing and dd most definately got ex's moneys worth from them she never wore anything else for months and months and months.

morningpaper · 28/05/2009 16:33

I've opened the website at here and the background image looks like a giant knob! what IS it? I'm guessing it's not designed for my screen resolution...

SheherazadetheGoat · 28/05/2009 16:35

to me it looks like boob flowers

morningpaper · 28/05/2009 16:36

it is definitely knoboid

SheherazadetheGoat · 28/05/2009 16:37

oh yes the bottom one does look like a knob. lovely a knob surrounded by boob flowers, what is the brand trying to say to us?

SheherazadetheGoat · 28/05/2009 16:38

wear lelli kelli and enter a garden of genitalia and lactation?

drlove8 · 28/05/2009 19:19
