ps what a relief to see a civilised thread - I have been lurking on a really nasty one and had started to feel a bit

It was one of those carcrash reality tv style threads - where you know you should just change channels but you have to keep watching just to see if it gets worse!

This feels much safer here - even anyone who thinks YABU can't get too heated about it surely...

drlove8 · 27/05/2009 20:27

ha ha ha .... tis worse than i thought.... i did it twice ....somebody help???? , purlease???? do a link for me???

YANBU I hate them. DD1 has finally realised that she will never have any. She always says "Mummy doen't like them" when she sees the advert

pinkteddy · 27/05/2009 20:44

does this work?

Baisey · 27/05/2009 20:45

Lelli kelly the cutest shoes... OH YEAH!
Good god YANBU the advert drives me potty.

dd loves lelli kellys. I haven't given in yet. But we went to Clarks today to get some doodles and I was at how much they were, £24! I'm sure they only used to be about 15 quid. Needless to say we didn't get any.

drlove8 · 27/05/2009 20:52

pinkteddy ,, i got some last week for dd4 and they defo were £15.... (pink and white flowery ones, sorry soupy), i didnt see any for £24 , but it was a small branch.... dont blame you for flouncing clarks... tis getting soooo expensive.

I like them. If I had a daughter, she would no doubt have a pair. I would have loved a pair when I was a little girl. I don't agree with the make up that coems with them though.

FuriousGeorge · 27/05/2009 20:54

I hate them too, everything about the ads is irritating, especially the blonde girls bopping about waving makeup.DD1 did make noises about them, until I pointed out that all thjose sequins would soon drop off or get covered n mud.

Luckily my dds are very suggestible. Now when the ad comes on,they say 'Mummy hates those shoes and so do I'.

Love the unicorn vomit!

Baisey · 27/05/2009 20:55

Everywhere is getting expensive now, shops put their prices up so in 6 months time they can reduce them again and you think you are getting a bargain!
I love doodles my ds had the jungle ones last year with the matching hat and sunglasses, he loved them bless him!

llynnnn · 27/05/2009 21:00

yanbu, they are horrid!! dd (2.10) always says she wants them when the ad comes on!! NO CHANCE!!

Worriedunfortunately · 27/05/2009 21:03

Ashamed to say my DD has a pair. She really loves them and I couldnt resist

brimfull · 27/05/2009 21:04

they are harmless though

if you can afford them and the child is thrilled to have them I just think 'bless her little bejewelled feet'

golgi · 27/05/2009 21:06

My nearly-three-year old has been taken in by the advertising and says "I would like some of those mummy"
I told him they were too expensive.

listenglisten · 27/05/2009 21:08

My dd got a pair for her birthday from mil and she loves them.

tbh I can't quite see what everyone hates so much about them, compared to some of the hideous clothes out there, these are pretty harmless, overpriced yes, but harmless nonetheless.

pinkteddy · 27/05/2009 21:09

What size is she drlove? Its probably cos dd is now 12.5/13 - there was only one type in her size. Might try a bigger branch further afield if I can get pink flowery ones for £15! They are useful for out of school and machine washable, but I just baulked at £24.

drlove8 · 27/05/2009 21:15

pink dd is a size 5E , tiny little feet!, try brantano they do clarks shoes much cheeper!

OP posts:
pinkteddy · 27/05/2009 21:21

Ooh thanks very much for tip, not heard of brantano. Just had a google and there's one not too far from here, will give it a go!

drlove8 · 27/05/2009 21:22

how about a MN version of the lelli kelli shoes? ..... am thinking penny blacks, a toddler, some pva and lots of crap glitter& shiney things to stick on! voilla !.....what would you put on yours? dd4 would defo go for the dried macaroni and half chewed sweetie look.

ADealingMummy · 27/05/2009 21:30

''Unicorn Vomit'' comment has really made me laugh , and i'm not laughing very much lately.
Thankyou Armadillo

FWIW I really don't like them, we like Doodles for the Summer

poorbuthappy · 27/05/2009 21:38

My dd loves them and so far have managed to get away with not buying any of the fabric shoes...

BUT
[whispers]
my sister bought dd a pair of silver jewelled trainers for her birthday last year, and she has worn them constantly (ok, not all the time but you get what I mean!!) and for the first time she has grown out of a pair of shoes before they have become too scruffy to wear - unlike the start rite shoes which my mum bought her 2 weeks ago, 1 wear and they look like shit...

drlove8 · 27/05/2009 21:47

... thats very suspicious poorbuthappy,.... tis a known fact kids will trash stuff us mummies like , and they cherish the tat they choose themselves/daft aunties buy.....

OP posts:
ILoveDolly · 27/05/2009 21:50

YANBU they bring me out in hives just thinking about them. I am such a shoe snob, poor DD I even hate her beloved Clarkes Molly the magic Cat shoes.
