to want the council to have rung me & not leave me dangling for another night??

We are on the council's homeless list. We have almost maximum points, and they work on a bidding system - basically they publish the empty properties fortnightly, and those with the highest points and priority dates get the property.

Bidding closed yesterday. According to the feedback we were top 5 in two houses.

One house is listed as being offered to someone with the same points and date as us. The 2nd house is going to someone with less points than us.

So you'd think it was us right?

But its been TWO days! TWO nights of feeling like my heart is in my mouth and my blood pressure through the roof.

It doesnt help that this house is in a good area, a good size and available now (apparently)

Surely if they have decided who they are offering to, they could have rung us? Or if its not us, surely the 2nd house should have gone to us as we had higher points? I am going completely insane and there is no one there answering their phones!

So AIBU to have wanted them to ring us already? So I can actually get some sleep tonight?

Good Luck...will they only ring if you are allocated the house or will they also notify you if not successful. Just wondering how many calls they are likely to have had to make before getting round to you.

Surely it must be you! We got a council house a very long time ago when the system was different. (Years after that we bought it.) I still remember how exciting it was to hear we'd been assigned the house! Good luck.

Nope, they didnt ring. I rang them again - to find that because we were homeless route, the housing needs should have rung us. But Housing Needs thought Allocations were ringing us, who thought needs were ringing us - so no one did!!

But yes, we got the house and go see/sign for it in the morning!
