here

It is within the allocated budget but I don't spend a lot on stuff like this so it would be a big deal kind of present. I'm a bit worried it might date or be too gimmicky or that I might be too old.
I've posted on here so I'll get your honest opinions - warts and all!!

tbh I don't like it and don't think it will last the test of time like gold or silver
sorry!

georgiemum · 21/05/2009 17:59

Go to the shop and try it on. My dear sisters got me the bracelet for my 40th (!!! - no I am not really 40, I have stareted to go backwards so I am now only 38) and it does leave markes on my wrist (which is quite skinny).

I rather like it.

lilolilmanchester · 21/05/2009 18:00

personally, I don't think it looks anything like worth the money. Sorry!!

gonaenodaethat · 21/05/2009 18:07

No, don't apologise. Thanks for the input it's all good. I'm crap at choosing stuff. You'd think by 40 I'd have some kind of idea of what I like.
It's like style dyslexia.

I don't think you're too old, but I don't like the watch (I'm sorry!). I think cheap stuff is better because then you don't worry about breaking it/losing it/it going out of fashion. If you trash a £30 watch (like I put mine in the washing machine accidentally ), it is not the end of the world.

gonaenodaethat · 21/05/2009 18:16

I feel the same about expensive stuff.
I think people feel a pressure to buy something significant since it's a big birthday but tbh there's nothing I really want.
My stuff is all cheap and cheerful.

I think it'll date tbh.

DrNortherner · 21/05/2009 18:20

Well I'm going to buck the trend and say I really like it. I don't think it will date at all, i think it will probably become a classic.

I love links of london stuff, partic the sweetie bracelet.

gonaenodaethat · 21/05/2009 18:40

Thanks folks

i like it. It's a bit different and you'll know your wearing an expensive watch even if no one else does.
I have an £800 diamond ring, I think it looks like it's from claires accessories but i don't care cos i love it!

Poppity · 21/05/2009 19:00

I think it's a new classic too.

Gold and silver go in and out of fashion too, I don't think the style will date, it's quite clean and simple.

lambanana · 22/05/2009 13:34

bloody lovely

LaurieFairyCake · 22/05/2009 13:47

I would definitely be looking at it in person to assess the quality - if the pc is anything like the stuff on Tag Heuer watches it splits and wears away within a couple of years. That doesn't matter so much with a Tag as you just replace but with the watch your choosing the strap is the cool, designery part of it right?

womma · 22/05/2009 14:39

YAabsolutelynotBU, if that's what you want you should have it. I'd like a big fuckoff Cartier for 40th please!
