At 7.30pm for a coup of tea
Now I want to be Mumsnetting with a large glass of Pinot at that time, or watching Enders or Katie and Peter
I dont want to be making small talk with people who I barely know [stamps foot], who only drink tea (3 tee totallers and me )

If your going to invite people round dh , aka pita , invite the for a meal or something not a cuppa at 7.30pm

rant over, now aibu?!!

YANBU - just keep the telly on in the background with the subtitles up...they should get the hint soon enough...

When I was teaching the head would occasionally pop into the staffroom at the end of a hard term and wave the big teapot at us.
'Chinese tea anyone'? she would laugh and we would hold out our cups for the lovely golden fluid. Purest Chardonnay-lovely even in a cup....
Enjoy your tea party

now that's effective leadership and management isn't it jenwyn

press ahead and enjoy your wine bigchris! Maybe you could try getting blotto, and ever so slightly coming on to one of them - get them out of your hair in time for Katie and Peter ......

I always think it's terribly rude to be sitting there on my own swigging wine while tey drink tea as though they'll think I'm an alkie!
but I usually do that most nights with dh he does think I drink too much
20 mins and they'll be here
I have brushed my ahir and put a bit of mascara on but still look like shite, lol

What the feck?

Its your house! If they want to drink tea, let them drink tea.

If you want to drink wine, drink wine.

It's not like they've invited you round to their house for a cup of tea.

It is not rude to drink wine in your own home, imvho.

We have good friends who invits us for a meal sometimes. We do not drink alcohol for religious reasons but it would not cross my mind to ask her to not drink alcohol in her own house! I think Minty is right!
