I have been lurking for a while on this topic and it seems to me that depending on who is asking AIBU depends on the answer. It seems to me that if you have posted loads and been a member forever YANBU but if you are a newbie you are every time or called a troll. So now I guess as it is my first time I will see what happens just wanted to share my thoughts

YABU

Most of the time I don't even read the posters name.

Ewe · 21/05/2009 14:02

YABU

I rarely even look at the username let alone know how long they have been here.

fucksticks · 21/05/2009 14:02

YABU. I have lurked and posted, and have had normal responses to my posts.

If you have been lurking you would have seen the huge amount of nonsense being posted recently.

Which begs the question...????

rubyslippers · 21/05/2009 14:03

not true at all

If you are an oldie you generally have a better idea of what the reaction will be, so you are less likely to post when people will say YABU.

YABU. But that's nothing to do with your name. It depends on the question, not the poster.

AMumInScotland · 21/05/2009 14:06

YABU - I don't even notice the poster's name most of the time, or think about how familiar they are when deciding my response. I don;t think most people on here respond differently on AIBU threads depending on the OP, though they might be more "chatty" in the way they say things if they "know" the person.

shootfromthehip · 21/05/2009 14:06

I don't read the OP's name either. And I bloomin' hate sycophants so would not agree with anyone because of who they are.

YABU

MorrisZapp · 21/05/2009 14:07

YABU

2anddone · 21/05/2009 14:08

Well, I haven't been on MN that long. But I know enough never to start a thread in AIBU.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/05/2009 14:10

Kathy was spot on there!

YABU

grumblinalong · 21/05/2009 14:13

YANBU. Just to go against the grain there

I don't think what you have posted is unreasonable some people definitely sit on the fence more if it's an established poster.

FabulousBakerGirl · 21/05/2009 14:13

Your title doesn't make sense.

2anddone · 21/05/2009 14:15

Thats what you get for typing with a baby on your knee! (well actually trying to climb over your shoulder and down your back too)

OP posts:
grumblinalong · 21/05/2009 14:20

You get the general gist from your title OP. Even if it's a little confused.

Morloth · 21/05/2009 14:23

hmmmm, I have noticed a slight bias towards long time posters, but I think that is the case on any message board. All of them end up quite "cliquey" and full of like minded people who become friends.

So YAB(bit)U but not totally.

Galava · 21/05/2009 14:26

YABU ... a bit.

I know what you mean about people doing name and posting checks on people. Now that winds me up ... its just creepy !

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/05/2009 14:29

There are definitely cases where people are more sympathetic to older posters because they know the background. When I was new I used to get quite pissed off about how a certain person seemed able to be really nasty to other people and no-one picked her up on it, and I later found out that she had PND, so I guess people who knew were just making allowances.
This doesn't happen a lot though, and I don't think it's a bad thing, it's part of being a community.

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:39

Kathy is right

I used to get sick of getting YABU all the time though so changed my name to post and still got it; have come to conclusion I am boring immensely reasonable LOL

Peachy · 21/05/2009 14:39

Sorry, meant I got YANBU
