to think Mumset is a whole lot better post-Mouldiegate?

Genuine observation here, not trying to stir anything. It just seems a lot less cliquey and bum-licky. My replies are recognised and appreciated. I hope newbies feel welcomed and that there isn't some barrier that you have to cross in order to become 'popular'.

Well?

I'm not afraid of MP - I know things about that one!

The phrase "search the archives" was extremly common and said by many people. You may not have been around long enough Aitch to be aware of that one as I remember people eventually got fed up with others saying that.

morningpaper · 22/05/2009 14:14
snice · 22/05/2009 14:14

scottishmummy what point are you making by deliberately getting Aitch's name wrong?

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 14:14

aaah, i see, once a typo, thrice a nasty nickname. thanks.
i'm really not mean to people, i reject that out of hand. in fact i try very hard to be fair, which is why i'm so often butting up against you at the moment, i think.

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/05/2009 14:15

I wouldn't MP, not today. Tummy not too good today if you take my meaning.

Damn! Gimpsuit! Nearly forgot it.

Tortington · 22/05/2009 14:16

The irony ofcourse is that this very conversation was had in the days just before the chat threads were invented. When the (then) new wave came on MN, we had the same conversatins about how they diluted they tone of the place. Most of them are now moldies!

I find the whole 'it's dumbed down now we have gone' moldy raid is indicative of why some of us appreciate the new not so oppressive atmosphere.

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 14:16

you might be right, actually, dg, i think i remember it being mentioned as having been said when i joined (iykwim) but didn't actually see it. so that would be at least three years ago...

flashharriet. great name, excellent point.

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/05/2009 14:17

BTW, I learnt something today. You can't make shortbread substituting Stork for butter.

ClaireDeLoon · 22/05/2009 14:17

Maybe DG is going on a naturist holiday and doesn't need to pack much at all? Would explain her practising in the thread a few minutes ago.

gibbberish · 22/05/2009 14:17

Isn't this just going round and round in circles now? Feeling quite dizzy. Time to jump off roundabout.

Going to do a 'why don't you'.

morningpaper · 22/05/2009 14:17

GACK why on EARTH would you try? It's RANK. Shortbread is ALL ABOUT THE BUTTER.

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 14:18

again that was before my time custy but you're right, it's ironic indeed.

daftpunk · 22/05/2009 14:19

agree flash...i don't think anyone really gives a toss tbh.

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 14:19

it's a third butter, a third sugar and a third flour (or half plain half cornflour for crispness)... poor dg, why would you think all-stork shortbread never caught on as a brand?

Kimi · 22/05/2009 14:24

Ledodgy I lost my thread, last we heard she is off the vent and holding her own. Sisters friend has been told if she makes it they do not know if/how much damaged has been done.

I will go start a new thread in Other Subjucts

Ledodgy · 22/05/2009 14:25

Ok thanks Kimi. What a little fighter.

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/05/2009 14:25

Oh fuck fuck fuck! I am having such a bad day. 3 of my 4 kids are home (that bit is ok actually but it is extra to think about). I have to pack for a specialist holiday for 6, going tomorrow. Dh has been asking me to do it for days and I have put it off till the last moment as I hate packing. Then I feel sick, and I am an emetophobe so I can't just trip lightly to the loo and get rid of whatever it is inside me. Then I try to make caramel slices for said holiday and have no butter so rush to do it with stork. Now everyone tells me "Of course you can't use stork, why would you even try?" Because I had nothing else! Sob!

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/05/2009 14:28

Sorry, ignore me (lol you will anyway!)

Just trying to see if ranting helps. (it doesn't)

myredcardigan · 22/05/2009 14:28

Well I'm not new. Been here 5 Years!
Anyway, 2 points;

Firstly, size has a lot to do with it. I see tons of thresds that look interesting but as they already have 100 odd posts, I don't bother. On the other hand, when I first started posting and MN was far smaller, nobody ever acknowledged my posts (and some were bloody good!) People posted to each other and responded to those they knew. Heaven forbid a newbie posted in Chat!

Secondly, I didn't really care because none of you are real. You're all writing under a blue lined alias. And that's fine cause that's what it's all about. I post for advice sometimes but mainly for escapism. My life seems so together and normal compared to lots of you nutters!

Oh and a big difference if the advent of AIBU. IMVHO, most of it is shit. When people post things like AIBU to be annoyed at this woman who called my toddler a little bitch. I just think, 'you're a silly bored mother talking bollocks!' Yet to my surprise within minutes she has received 100 heartfelt posts sympathising!

Kimi · 22/05/2009 14:29

Found and posted on my thread....

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 14:29

there there. send some of your many children to buy butter. in fact, send them to buy biscuits, goddammit.
and then set them to work cleaning the entire house while you pack. that's the sort of thing my mother would do, insisting that if the beds weren't freshly made etc we just wouldn't be leaving on holiday. it was quite the incentive.
sorry about your dicky tummy, though, can't help with that, except to suggest that you back away from the stork.

myredcardigan · 22/05/2009 14:30

you see!!! That's my point! I clicked on at 600 odd posts and now there's 800 odd!

Ledodgy · 22/05/2009 14:31

I like the threads which say stuff like 'I have chicken, potatoes and carrots what can I make?' I always want to go on and say 'How about Chicken potatoes and carrots.'

myredcardigan · 22/05/2009 14:32
Grin
ClaireDeLoon · 22/05/2009 14:33

Yes - there was a one the other week that was 'I have frozen chickpeas what can I do with them' and I was tempted to post 'leave them in the freezer they'd be useful for an ice pack'.
