to find a columnist in main-stream daily newspaper telling us to support the Bloody Nose Party

Am buying 'The Sun' this week for the Morrisons shopping vouchers.
There is an article headed 'Support the Bloody Nose Party' .The columneist says we should not vote for the mainstream parties in this coming European election but for minority parties eg the UKIP.Am I being too cynical when I think the heading is telling us to vote for the BNP and to find it scary that a publication with such a large circulation are supporting them.

I think everyone should vote for the monster raving loony party. I mean imagine the next election "I'd like to vote for the MPs who are openly thieves and crooks please" I mean how can anyone?

how would you be unreasonable to find something in a news paper that is intentionally published?

Ponders · 21/05/2009 13:44

couple of words missing from title I feel, mayorq

policywonk · 21/05/2009 13:44

I'm with you katie - pretty shocking. The implication must be deliberate.

Mind you, the Sun was an explicitly racist paper a couple of decades ago - maybe it's just returning to its nasty little roots?

katiestar · 21/05/2009 16:40

Mayor of Quimby yes I changed the title and it didn't make sense .
The thing that is worrying is that if a paper like the sun think they won't alienaste their readers by supporting the BNP , then it is not a minority of racist thugs supporting the BNP as other threads have suggested

I think there is a problem with a newspaper that is part of a free press wanting to back a party that would, if given power, intend to do away with democracy and all that it entails, including a free press.

I must admit I've been pleasantly surprised how regularly the Mail has been posting anti-BNP stuff. Very ironic given the similarity in attitude re certain things, but hey.

The Mirror had a great anti- BNP pullout recently.

So yes, very depressing to hear about the Sun. Agree with Policy that the implication is pretty clear.

MissSunny - you can support the fact that they have a legal right to publish something and still disagree strongly with, and be saddened by, the fact that they have done it.

Well there are other minority parties apart from the BNP. Is The Sun going to do an article on supporting the Green Party as well? I doubt it somehow. Am beginning to suspect that Murdoch has, in his dotage, moved even farther to the Right!
