To think I am a complete idiot, well my iPhone does!

At work yesterday, iPhone in pocket.

Looked at it this morning to see if dh had emailed/texted me but screen was white with lots of lines.

Took phone out of case and it was soaking wet, water under glass and in sim card. Must have soaked it when I was washing my hands at work. So had been sitting in water, whilst connected to the charger overnight.

Phone is sort of working but can't switch it off, my lovely phone is now sitting on a pipe in the airing cupboard and waiting to see if it improves.

I love my iPhone and feel as if part of me is missing

has anyone else done the same thing?

would like to take it apart and get it dried properly.

Guessing your on O2?

You must have insurance because they won't let you have one without.

Call em, say you're having software probs/screen freeze whatever and that you can't get the thing to switch off no matter what you've tried. Do not under any circumstances mention the washing hands/water.....

They will send you a replacement. They're not gonna call you and kick off about the water once they inspect it because they pretty much just scrap everything that goes back without even looking at it.

Shhhhhhhhhhhh

I have had a similar problem after it getting wet in the rain.
I let the battery completely drain and then give a full charge afterwards and that seems to help.

I've been told that the thing to do it put it in a pan of uncooked rice and cover it and leave it for a day or so - dry rice apparently fab at absorbing moisture.

Don't know if it works, but maybe worth a try?

HTH

Have got insurance luckily but have to send phone back, I feel such an idiot as I was soaked, but never thought to check phone was ok!

They'll know it was water damage, thanks to the presence of a lovely soapy bubble shape in the screen.

You don't have to have insurance by the way!
It's not obligatory, only recommended.

Even if you don't have insurance ( which you don't have to take, we have 4 iphones) and it is less than a year old, they will replace it for a fee. DS's phone got trodden on by a horse, smashed the screen, it cost me £100 for a brand new phone at the Apple store.
