In the wake of the MP's expenses scandal it has made me wonder whether there can ever be any government which is not corrupt and behaves with integrity. This has coincided with me re-reading 'Animal Farm' which DS is doing at school (hadn't read it since I was about 13) and it really resonated.
Does power always corrupt?
Does it matter which party gets in ,Is there a sad inevitability they all only be self serving scum bags ?

no answers from me, but this is troubling me at the moment too. how do you reconcile the (IMHO) absolute civic duty to vote (remember the suffragettes etc) with the reality of having to vote for some self serving policy toting spineless bastard of any political hue? answers on a postcard, please.

Don't have any answers either, sorry. It's the whole problem that most people who want to be leaders probably shouldn't be.
