to not really want to go to a friends party

I have a friend who's having a party and either me or dh are supposed to go. Dh has already said to me that he doesn't want to go but tba neither do I. Had a week with the dcs who have been ill and I'm really shattered (and also time of the month which always makes me feel very anti-social). I just want to crawl into bed and stay there until the dcs wake up at 6.30.

I know that loads of people are going so I won't be missed. Would IBU to make my excuses?

Absolutely not - but make it a good excuse and send a nice card. Enjoy your early night!

this is the problem aunty can't think of a good one apart from the ''I'm tired'' which would pee me off a bit.....

Just say you are unwell.
If you really don't want to go (and imo it is perfectly reasonable to want to snuggle up!) then stretch the truth slightly.
Tbh though, most of my friends would understand the too knackered reason.

Just say you are too knackered, is it tonight, is it my party, i dont mind.
