I'm a regular but I've name changed because I don't immediately want the school to be identified.
On a school trip, the son of my dd's teacher had degrading porno pics on his moblie. Another boy asked where he'd got them from, and he said- "They're my Dad's, he has a pile of mags and I photoed them".
This is hearsay- passed on by another boy to his Mum.
The teacher in question was my 10/11 year old dd's teacher, a small class with pre pubescant girls.
Another Mum said it was a free world and he's entitled to look at porn, which I agree with, but it still makes me feel uncomfortable.

The boy may have been fibbing.

The teacher's wife taught at the school too, and he sometimes put her down in front of people too, which I didn't like atall at the time.

Now I'm interpreting things in a different way of course.

How would you react?

Our dd has left now anyway, but it bothered me at the time.

I can see where the OP is coming from..it was her first and not most reasoned reaction she is talking about. I would like to think that my dcs teachers are without fetish or fantasy, well not true but I'd rather not have to think about them like that at all. When I found out that my old primary school teacher had masses of porn (I am very good friends with his son) I did think it extra yuck because he was a teacher. NOT because he taught children and I thought he may be a paedophile but just above all that.

No, CO, you are trying to parlay this into a big deal by suggestion and the rather unsubtle use of language, and you are "really amazed" at these reactions primarily because no-one has joined your lynch mob.

Had your post just been about a child getting hold of his teacher father's porn collection and showing it to other children, I think your respones might have been more supportive. You had already pointed out that he taught 10/11 year olds, so the line about prepubescent girls really was redundant. It's the insinuation that male teachers are somehow suspicious that has upset people.

However much I don't like him, and I agree that my personal feelings for him influence me, it just made me see him in a different light. I think porn can be degrading

And I haven't joined her lynch mob I can just see where she's coming from....... we all have irrational responses to some things and she's just airing hers on here.

Now when I told my DH about my dc1 having a male teacher in yr3, his response was that he hoped they were well vetted......Now that is an irrational response, I have tried to stop him reading red tops but I believe they have copies at work

It wouldn't change my opinion of the teacher, but his son has behaved very badly! I'd at least let the teacher know what his child has been up to so he could discipline him and remove the pictures from circulation at school.

NO, I think she's (pardon me for this OP) thinking differently of this man, feels a little unreasonable for doing so and trying to justify her own feelings by finding others that may have a similar response. I actually think if my dd had him as a teacher I would feel a bit eeewww, I would understand that I had no reason and someone's sexual preference has nothing to do with how they view teenage girls but I would think eeewww. Can't explain it and would never share such a view to RL company without qualifying that I have no basis for my feelings....
